Women’s Cross Country Takes First at Engineer’s Cup

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Alina Gatowski raced to an 18 second win as the nationally-ranked no. nine MIT women's cross country team took home the annual Engineer's Cup title over RPI and WPI. The Cardinal and Grey earned 22 team points to beat out second-place RPI by 18. WPI finished third with 69 points.

Gatowski was the first of six MIT harriers to finish in the top 10, breaking the tape with a time of 18:36.72. Tania Morimoto was the next across in 18:54.38. Coming in after a pair of RPI runners, Chandler Burfield (19:03.94) and Katy Gordon (19:09.32) placed fifth and sixth respectively. Alex Westbrook earned an eighth-place finish with her time of 19:35.62. Alicia Kaestli rounded out the scoring for Tech, finishing ninth in 19:36.79.

The Engineers will travel to UMass-Dartmouth next weekend for the Corsairs' Invitational.
