BOSTON, Mass. – The nationally-ranked No. 4 MIT women's cross country squad had five of the top seven finishers to easily capture the team title at the Engineer's Cup over RPI and WPI on Saturday afternoon at Boston's Franklin Park. Alexandra Taylor (Harbor Springs, Mich.) took the top spot overall as Tech finished with 23 team points, well ahead of runner-up RPI's total of 41.
Taylor cruised to a 15-second victory, finishing in 19:36. A pair of RPI harriers came in behind Taylor but after that, the next four runners across the finish belonged to the Cardinal and Gray. Shivani Kaushal (Grand Blanc, Mich.) took fourth place in her intercollegiate debut with a time of 19:59. Claire O'Connell (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) was next through the chute in 20:06. Louise van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) placed sixth (20:30) and Cindy Huang (San Jose, Calif.) rounded out the top five for Tech with a seventh-place result.
MIT will travel to UMass-Dartmouth next weekend for an invitational on Saturday, September 17. The women's race begins at 12:00 p.m. following the men at 10:30 a.m.
