    MIT's Manion Receives Elite 89 Award CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT sophomore Dacie Manion (Old Town, Maine) received the prestigious Elite 89 award at this weekend's NCAA Division III championship. She was recognized by the NCAA as the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average competing at the final site for each of the NCAA's 89 championships.

    Women's Cross Country Finishes in 6th at NCAA Championship TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - MIT women's cross country, ranked first in the country for the fifth week in succession, wrapped up the 2012 season with a sixth place finish at the NCAA Division III championship on Saturday afternoon. With 291 points, the Engineers finished behind the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with 272 points and narrowly ahead of St. Lawrence with 297.

    NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference Awards CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A league-leading 57 athletes represented MIT on the 2012 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team. Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

    Women's Cross Country Captures 6th Consecutive NEWMAC Title NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Number one nationally ranked MIT swept the top eight positions in the 5k course at Smith College on Saturday afternoon, earning the Engineers their sixth consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship title and their eighth overall.

    Engineers Finish 5th of 37 teams at NEICAAA Championships WESTFIELD, Mass. – At the NEICAAA Championships that took place on Sunday afternoon at Stanley Park, MIT women’s cross country team finished fifth out of 37 teams behind Boston College, Vermont, Dartmouth and Scared Heart, but 50 points and three places ahead of Division III No. 1 ranked Williams College.

    Sarah Quinn Named NEWMAC Cross Country Runner of the Week CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Freshman Sarah Quinn (Watchung, N.Y.) was named the NEWMAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week after a fourth place finish in the 6k course at the Purple Valley Classic this weekend. She completed the race in 22:30, the fastest of any MIT runner on that course to date.

    MIT Cross Country Teams Lend Helping Hand to Boston Harbor Association CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Members of the MIT Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams stepped off of the trails and spent an afternoon volunteering with The Boston Harbor Association. By partnering with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the MIT Public Service Center, about 30 members from the two teams helped with storm drain stenciling.

    Taylor Takes Title at Keene State KEENE, N.H. – Junior Alexandra Taylor (Harbor Springs, Mich.) started the cross country season on a high note for the MIT women’s team as she won individual honors at the Keene State Alumni Invitational. She was not the only Engineer to have a strong race, as MIT also took the team title by taking six of the top 10 spots to easily take the team title over host Keene State.

    MIT Cross Country 2012 Schedule Announced CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT’s cross country program announced its 2012 schedule, a seven-meet lineup, all of which take place on the road. The season officially begins when the teams travel to the Keene State Invitational on September 1. Two weeks later, they compete at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, where both the squads finished atop the standings last year.
