WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - At the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday afternoon, the MIT women's cross country team defeated 19 other highly ranked teams to finish in second place behind host Williams College. Freshman Sarah Quinn (Watchung, N.J.) was the Engineers' highest finisher in the 6k when she crossed the line in fourth place with a time of 22:30.
Less than 20 second later, senior Brooke Johnson (Shoreham, N.Y.) broke the tape in 22:49, finishing in eighth place. Sophomore Elaine McVay (San Ramon, Calif.) and junior Kaitlin Allen (Bedford, N.H.) followed in 14th and 25th place respectively.
MIT will have a bit of a break before taking part in the NEICAAA Championships on Oct. 7.
