HANOVER, Ind. - Racing against the best runners in the country, the No. 8 MIT women's cross country team finished in fifth place with 261 points at the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships at Hanover College on Saturday afternoon.

MIT Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams Qualify for Nationals
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After earning a pair of third place finishes at the New England Division III Regional Championships over the weekend, the No. 16 men’s cross country team and the No. 4 women’s cross country teams received at-large bids to the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships, which will take place at Hanover College on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Women's Cross Country Finishes in 3rd at New England Regional Championships
PORTLAND, Maine - No. 4 MIT women's cross country was one of the six nationally-ranked teams that competed in the 2013 New England Division III Regional Championships that took place at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon, wrapping up the day in third place with 127 points. No. 6 Williams College took the title with 44 points and No. 2 Middlebury College was second with 57, earning automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.

NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference Awards
BOSTON, Mass. – A league-leading 62 athletes represented MIT on the 2013 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team. Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

Halston Taylor Named NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year
BOSTON, Mass. – Head coach Halston Taylor was voted as the women’s cross country Coach of the Year following MIT’s performance at the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship this past Sunday. This is the fourth year in a row and the sixth time overall that Taylor has earned this honor.

Women's Cross Country Claims 7th Consecutive NEWMAC Title
BOSTON, Mass. - MIT women's cross country captured its seventh straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title on a rainy Saturday at Franklin Park. Tech, who has been ranked as high as third in the nation in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, ended the day with 23 points, leaving a sizeable gap between it and second place Wellesley College

Cross Country’s Elaine McVay Receives NEWMAC Accolades
BOSTON, Mass. – MIT women’s cross country junior Elaine McVay (San Ramon, Calif.) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Runner of the Week following her second place finish at the Purple Valley Classic this past weekend. Since the beginning of the 2013 season three weeks ago, the Engineers have been ranked third in the nation and first in New England.

No. 3 Women's Cross Country Finishes in Second at the Purple Valley Classic
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Competing for the second week in a row, No. 3 MIT women's cross country traveled to Williams College to compete in the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday afternoon, racing against other highly ranked teams, such as No. 4 Williams, No. 8 Middlebury and No. 28 Amherst College. The Engineers finished in second place with a score of 43, behind Middlebury with its score of 38 and ahead of Williams with 46.

Women's Cross Country Finishes in First Place at the USM Invitational
PORTLAND, Maine - Number three nationally ranked MIT women's cross country opened the season with a win at the Southern Maine Invitational Cross Country Meet on Saturday afternoon with 52 points. This pre-regional meet was hosted so New England teams could have the opportunity to see the course prior to the NCAA Division III Regional meet in November.

MIT Women’s Cross Country Open Season Nationally Ranked
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT women’s cross country is ranked third in the nation in the first week of polls that was released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday afternoon. The Engineers were also ranked third in the preseason poll that was released late last month.

MIT Cross Country Teams Volunteer with Charles River Conservancy
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Members of the MIT men’s and women’s cross country teams took some time away from the trails and volunteered with the Charles River Conservancy (CRC). With the help of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at MIT, the Engineers spent the afternoon improving the Charles River bike path by pulling vines, picking up trash, cutting back growth on cherry trees and painting benches.
