BOSTON, Mass. – For the first time this season and second time in her career, junior Sarah Quinn (Watchung, N.J.) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Runner of the Week on Monday. She was also named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career too.
In the Engineers first meet of the season, Quinn finished first in the 6k at the Purple Valley Classic, crossing the finish line in a final time of 22:23.9. This was Quinn's first race after a year away from competition, and her first place performance amongst a field of 267 runners representing 24 schools helped the No. 4 Engineers claim the team title.
MIT will be back in action on Saturday, October 11 when they compete in the NEICAAA Championships, which will take place at Franklin Park in Boston.
