Long, Omura Named NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (November 16) – After helping MIT clinch its first ever Atlantic Coast Championship over the weekend, sophomore Trevor Long (Hockessin, Del.) and senior Paige Omura (Honolulu, Hawaii) have been named as the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association's (NEISA) Coed Sailors of the Week. MIT entered the regatta ranked No. 5 in the latest Sailing World national poll.

Long and Omura won the B-Division with 123 points on their home course on the Charles River. The duo tallied three rotation victories, seven top-five finishes and 13 top-10 finishes over 18 races sailed. In addition, they had their best stretch early in day one as they claimed second, fourth, first, second and sixth, respectively, in rotations two through six.

As a team, MIT bested No. 8 Tufts University (256 points), No. 4 College of Charleston (267), No. 10 Hobart/William Smith (274) and No. 6 Dartmouth College (289), while No. 1 in the national poll, Yale University finished seventh.
