  • Three Sailors Named ICSA All-Americans in 2018-19

    Cambridge, Mass. (June 19) - After the MIT women's sailing team finished 12th at the 2019 Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Championship, the Engineers were honored with three All-America awards. The All-America teams were announced by the association at the conclusion of the three National Championship events in Newport, Rhode Island earlier this month.

    The MIT women's sailing team saw its season come to a close this afternoon as the Engineers finished 12th overall at the 2019 Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Championship at Sail Newport in Rhode Island. 
  • Women's Sailing Finishes Fourth in National Semifinals to Qualify for Championship Regatta

    For the second time in four seasons, the MIT women's sailing team has qualified for the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Championship Finals after taking fourth place at the National Semifinals today. The Engineers totaled 164 points just behind top finisher Yale University, Dartmouth College and the College of Charleston.

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 2) – Following the coed and women's spring championships, the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) announced that nine members of the MIT sailing teams combined to earn 13 major awards and recognition from the conference.

    The MIT women's sailing team continued their impressive spring season as they came from behind to win their first New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Championship in program history and earned an automatic berth to the 2019 Women's Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Championship which will be held in Newport, RI later in May.
  • Sailing Finishes Third at Women's Team Race National Invite to Highlight Weekend for Engineers

    The MIT women's sailing team highlighted this weekend's action with their impressive third place finish at the Team Race National Invitational held at Brown University. The nine Engineers who competed at Brown finished with a 13-6 record and were edged by Brown (17-2) and Dartmouth (14-5) for the team title.
  • Haig, Caso & McGoldrick Take Home NEISA Women's Sailors of the Week Accolades

    Cambridge, Mass. (April 9) - The MIT women's sailing team took home its third weekly award of the year today after Dana Haig (Beach Haven, N.J.), Sarah Caso (Duxbury, Mass.) and Brooke McGoldrick (Southport, Conn.) helped the No. 7 Engineers win the Emily Wick Trophy over the weekend.

    The MIT women's sailing team highlighted the weekend of action for the Engineers as they finished seventh overall at the Dellenbaugh Trophy hosted by Brown University. MIT also competed at the Boston University Trophy and at home in the Lynne Marchiando Team Race Trophy and finished 12th in both.
  • Sailing Competes at Friis Trophy & Duplin Women's Trophy Over the Weekend

    On a weather shortened weekend of racing, the MIT sailing team finished in seventh place at the Duplin Women's Trophy hosted by Tufts University and in tenth at the Friis Trophy hosted by Roger Williams University. 
  • Sailing Finishes Third in Two Team Racing Regattas This Weekend

    The MIT sailing team finished third in both team race regattas that they sailed in this weekend. At the Southern New England Team Race Invite hosted by Connecticut College, the Engineers were edged by Boston College and finished third due to a tiebreaker with Bowdoin, and at the Geiger Invite MIT finished in third place behind URI and Boston University.

(March 12) - Three student-athletes from the No. 3 nationally-ranked MIT women's sailing team have been named to the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Major Award watch list this spring. The nominees include the top sailors from New England colleges and universities based on results to date.
  • Women's Sailing Finishes Third at Navy to Highlight Weekend for Engineers

    In their second weekend of the spring season, the MIT coed and women's sailing teams competed in four regattas. The women's team, in their lone event of the weekend, finished third at the U.S. Naval Academy, while the coed team, who was strictly competing in the team racing format, finished third at the Rudkin Team Race and sixth at both the Wood Trophy and the Arctic Circle Team Race.
  • Sailing Finishes Seventh at Sharpe Team Race to Open Spring Season

    In their first regatta of the 2019 spring season, the MIT sailing team finished seventh with a 1-6 record at the Sharpe Team Race Trophy over the weekend. The regatta was limited to just Sunday competition as Saturday was cancelled due to the snow storm in New England.
  • Coed Sailing Finishes Fifth at Showcase Final

    The MIT coed sailing highlighted the weekend of action for the Engineers as they finished fifth at the Coed Showcase held at St. Mary's College in Maryland. The women's team also finished seventh at the Yale Women's Trophy and the coed team rounded out the weekend with a 13th place finish at the Oberg Trophy.

    The MIT women's sailing team highlighted the weekend of action for the Engineers as they placed second at the Women's Showcase B Final held at Boston University and third at the Women's Showcase Final held at Brown University.
  • Sailing Finishes Third at Coed Showcase

    The MIT coed sailing team highlighted the weekend of action as they took third overall at the Coed Showcase at home, which featured some of the best teams in the region and in the country. The women's team sent some student-athletes to Conn College where they finished seventh at the Stu Nelson Trophy.

  • B Division Captures First Place at Women's Showcase

    The MIT women's sailing team dominated the field to win B Division at the Women's Showcase and helped the Engineers finish second overall in a very competitive field. The coed team sailed in three regattas over the weekend as they took sixth at the Danmark Trophy, 11th at the Moody Trophy and 15th at the Smith Trophy.
  • Women's Sailing Captures Third Place at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl

    In a full weekend of sailing action, the MIT women’s team captured third place at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, just four points shy of taking the runner-up slot. The coed squad represented the Engineers at the Hoyt Trophy (seventh place), the Hood Trophy (ninth place), and the one-day Harvard Invitational (third place).
  • Sailing Finishes Sixth at Hatch Brown Memorial Trophy

    The MIT sailing team competed at two regattas over the weekend including at home in the Hatch Brown Memorial Trophy and the Regis Trophy at Harvard. The Engineers took sixth and 16th overall at the Hatch Brown Trophy and eighth overall at the Regis Trophy.
  • Sailing Sees Seven Named To 2017-18 ICSA All-Academic Team

    Cambridge, Mass. (September 14) – Seven sailors from the MIT sailing team were honored for their excellence in competition and in the classroom by the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) when the organization released its 2017-18 All-Academic Team selections on Friday. A total of 238 student-athletes, an increase of 15 from a season ago, were honored this year.
  • Sailing Announces 2018 Recruiting Class Made Up Of Six Student-Athletes

    Cambridge, Mass. (September 13) – The MIT sailing team has announced its incoming class of recruits for the 2018-19 season as six newcomers will join the Engineers. MIT, under the direction of head coaches Matt Lindblad and Mike Kalin, is coming off a season which saw the coed team win its first National Championship since 1961 and saw the women’s team finish fourth at their National Championship in the same week.

    After sweeping both divisions and leading the Engineers to first place finish at the Toni Deutsch Trophy over the weekend, Emily Haig (Beach Haven, N.J.), Sarah Caso (Duxbury, Mass.) and Brooke McGoldrick (Southport, Conn.) were selected as the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association’s (NEISA) Women’s Sailors of the Week.
  • Sailing Dominates Toni Deutsch Trophy to Open 2018

    The MIT sailing team dominated the field at Toni Deutsch Trophy to win its first regatta of the season. The Engineers also finished third at the Harry Anderson Trophy, third and fifth at the Tufts University Invitational and seventh at the Pine Trophy.
