PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The "B" Division quartet of Jake Muhleman, Brooks Reed, Julie Arsenault, and Ben Stewart finished fourth among 18 teams as MIT placed eighth overall this past weekend at the New England Dinghy Championship. Host Brown University won the two-day regatta with a score of 102.

Racing in tight battles throughout the event, the Engineers slotted a sixth-place finish in Saturday's mostly five to 10 knot breeze. MIT sped ahead of neighboring foe Tufts University (seventh place) and cross-town rival Harvard University (eighth) in the day's rankings, with the "B" Division foursome finishing a sparkling second. Reed skippered the opening two jousts and Muhleman steered the final four, as MIT capped the first day with a score of 92. The "B" team again rose to the occasion on Sunday, falling only two marks. Reed guided the four races, with Arsenault and Stewart taking turns in tow.

The usually sound "A" Division tandem of Jack Field and Wyman Li placed eighth on Saturday, but fell to 11th on the second day. Overall, Sunday's slight dip allowed Harvard (fourth) and Tufts (sixth) to overtake the Cardinal and Gray. However, MIT edged out Division I foe Boston University (ninth), which fell from third in Saturday's standings.
