CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Amid 400,000 spectactors who were relishing a parade comemmorating the World Champion Boston Red Sox, MIT sailing finished fifth out of 18 schools at the Edwin Schell Trophy on the Charles River. The Engineers finished just out of fourth place, while Tech's efforts were enough to ensure an apearance in the 2004 Atlantic Coast Championships.

Junior JM Modisette served as the MIT skipper in A-division for all 18 races. Backed by Freshman Julie Arsenault and sophomore Wyman Li, Tech finished fifth in A-division as well. MIT won the 13th race and closed with 123 points.

Freshman Jack Field skippered Tech's B-division, with Li and Arsenault handling the crew duties again. Tech finished eighth in the tightly-contested battle, totaling just 11 more points than fourth-place Roger Williams. Tech's second unit wasn't quite as consistent, as their place ranged from first to 17th during the two-day stretch.
