    With the game tied at 2-2 heading into the eighth, No. 16/17 Wheaton College scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to rally past MIT baseball by a 5-2 final in the first game of a three-game divisional series.

    On Saturday afternoon, the MIT baseball team dropped a 7-2 home final to No. 14 Babson at Fran O’Brien Field. The teams were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday before rain impacted the area late into Saturday morning.

    Led by a complete-game three-hitter from Babson’s Michael Genaro, the No. 14 ranked Beavers defeated the MIT baseball team by a 12-1 margin on Friday afternoon. The Engineers trailed 3-1 heading into the sixth before the Beavers struck for nine runs in the next two innings to take command of the first game of the three-game series.

    Despite outhitting Clark University by a 6-4 margin on Wednesday afternoon, the MIT baseball team dropped a 6-2 final to the Cougars in a NEWMAC matchup at Fran O’Brien Field.
  • Baseball Falls to Coast Guard in 21-15 Final on Tuesday

    MIT jumped out to a 13-4 lead after four innings before the Bears tied the game with nine runs in the fifth and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy eventually came away with the 21-15 NEWMAC victory on Tuesday afternoon. The game was called after eight innings due to darkness as heavy rain was also beginning to spread into the area.

    Led by a 4-for-5 outing from junior Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.), the MIT baseball team pulled out a 3-2 final over Endicott College in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon. MIT has now won four straight and eight of the last 10 to move to 13-7-1 overall.
  • Engineers Complete Series Sweep of Emerson With Two Wins on Saturday

    With a doubleheader sweep on Saturday afternoon, the MIT baseball team completed a three-game series sweep of Emerson College to move to 5-1 in NEWMAC play. Game one was a 22-4 final, followed the 9-4 victory in game two that moved the Engineers into second place in the league’s East Division standings.

    Led by a dominant eight-inning, 12-strikeout performance by senior Patrick Callahan (Vicksburg, Mich.), the MIT baseball team improved to 3-1 in NEWMAC play with a 9-0 shutout of Emerson College. The game is the first of a three-game series between the teams over the weekend.

    Led by a six-inning win on the mound by junior Zack Kopstein (Tiburon, Calif.), the MIT baseball team overcame an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Clark University by a 7-2 final on Tuesday afternoon. The Engineers put together an 11-hit attack on offense and have now won four of their last five games.
  • Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Springfield in NEWMAC Opener

    In the NEWMAC-opening doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, the MIT baseball team played to a split with Springfield College at Archie Allen Field. MIT took game one by a 10-2 final and the Pride took the second game in a narrow 4-3 margin.
  • Baseball Topples No. 5 Cal Lutheran by 10-6 Final to Close Six-Game Spring Trip

    Led by a seven-run sixth inning, the MIT baseball team ended its six-game California trip with a 10-6 win over No. 5 Cal Lutheran on Thursday afternoon at Sparky Anderson Field. The Engineers finished the West Coast swing at 4-2 following today’s win that snapped Cal Lutheran’s six-game winning streak.
  • Johnston Powers Baseball Past University of Redlands in a 20-8 Final

    Led by a two-home run, nine-RBI day from junior Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.), the MIT baseball team came away with a 20-8 victory at the University of Redlands on Wednesday afternoon. The nine-RBI performance ties the MIT single game record, that was set 52 years ago by Jeff Weissman. This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams as Redlands has now dropped four straight games overall.
  • Baseball Falls at No. 9 Chapman by a 10-4 Final

    On Tuesday evening at W.O. Hart Park, the MIT baseball team dropped a 10-4 final to No. 9 ranked Chapman University. The Engineers led by a 4-0 margin midway through the game before the Panthers rallied for the win in the second all-time meeting between the two programs.

    On day two of the team’s Spring Break trip, the MIT baseball team dropped a 17-6 final to Pomona-Pitzer as the Sagehens rallied from a 6-2 deficit to pick up the win. This marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2015.

    In non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon, the MIT baseball team dropped a 7-4 home final to Bates College. The Bobcats got off to a fast start with four runs in the first inning to close the all-time series to within 17-14-1 in favor of the Engineers.
  • Allison Belts Two Homers in 3-3 Tie With Suffolk in Home Opener

    Led by a pair of home runs and three runs batted in from junior Thomas Allison (Kingwood, Texas), the MIT baseball team tied Suffolk University in a 3-3 final in the home opener for the Engineers on Tuesday afternoon. This marked the third career multi-home run game for Allison and his first since a two-home run, four-RBI performance vs. WPI in on March 24, 2018.

    On a blustery Saturday afternoon, the MIT baseball team swept Salem State by finals of 3-2 and 5-1 in a non-conference doubleheader that was played at St. John’s Prep.

    On a sunny Monday afternoon, the MIT baseball team dropped a back-and-forth 12-7 final to Trinity College at DiBenedetto Stadium. The two teams combined for 21 hits and 18 stolen bases.
  • Baseball Splits Neutral Site Doubleheader with Nichols and No. 8 Southern Maine
    March 09, 2019
    In the season opener on Saturday, the MIT baseball team split with Nichols College and the University of Southern Maine in a non-conference pair that was hosted at Trinity College. The Engineers scored five times in the bottom of the eighth to rally past Nichols in the opener, before the Huskies scored twice in the ninth in game two to pull out the victory for USM.
  • Carroll to Participate in ABCA Barnstormers Clinic on September 23rd

    MIT baseball assistant coach Todd Carroll is among the coaches that will be part of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Barnstormers Clinic, which will be hosted at Harvard University on September 23rd. Carroll will be discussing coaching perspective and relating to the modern student-athlete at the clinic.

    Nashua, N.H. (July 13) -- MIT baseball junior Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.) has been named to the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) All-Star Game, which will take place on July 18th at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H. Johnston, who is an outfielder for the Brockton (Mass.) Rox, was named to the Nashua (Newcomb) roster and is one of four Rox named to the team.
