Cambridge, Mass. (May 30) -- MIT senior pitcher Patrick Callahan (Vicksburg, Mich.) has been selected to the College Division roster for the 45th Annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Joe Walsh All-Star Game. The game is slated to take placed at Noon on Friday, May 31st at Dunkin Stadium in Hartford, Conn.
Selected as an NEIBA Second Team All-Region performer earlier this week, Callahan was also named to the NEWMAC Second Team for the second time in his career. He was also named as the NEWMAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after throwing a pair of complete games as the Engineers defeated WPI and Babson, en route to the NEWMAC title.
On the season, Callahan finished with a 6-1 overall record while leading the conference in starts with 13. He also posted a 2.20 earned run average over 73.2 innings pitched with 65 strikeouts, two complete games and one shutout. In his final two games of the league tournament, Callahan went 2-0 with just two runs allowed over 18 innings with 15 strikeouts and zero walks.
Callahan and the Engineers finished the season with a 23-19-1 overall record, claiming the program's third NEWMAC Championship and sixth all-time berth in the NCAA Tournament.
