CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Friends and fans of MIT and WPI basketball will be able to catch an audio broadcast of tonight's NEWMAC tilt at www.ustream.tv/channel/mit-basketball. With tip-off slated for 6 p.m., tonight's meeting marks a battle for first place in the league standings.
Tonight's audio broadcast will be hosted by MIT graduate student Chad Lieberman and sophomore Bryn Waldwick.
MIT (12-6, 3-2) has been one of the best teams in the nation at home this season, winning all eight of its games inside the friendly confines of Rockwell Cage. The Engineers have won seven of the eight games by double figures while their average margin of victory has been 18.5 points.
Throughout MIT's basketball history, only Tufts has played the Cardinal and Gray more often than WPI (13-5, 4-1). The series began in 1902 while the teams have met 85 times. WPI owns a commanding 56-29 lead in the all-time series and has won 10 straight against MIT dating back to 2003. Prior to WPI's lengthy win streak in the rivalry, MIT had enjoyed a seven-game winning streak against its Engineering counterparts.
