MIT Men's Heavyweight Crew Completes Donahue Cup on Lake Quinsigamond

WORCESTER, Mass. - For the second weekend in a row, the MIT men's heavyweight crew raced on Lake Quinsigamond, this time taking part in the Donahue Cup on Saturday morning against Williams, WPI, Franklin & Marshall and Connecticut College. The Engineers entered a Varsity 8, a Novice 8 and a Varsity 4 boat.

In the first event, the MIT Varsity 8 B boat finished with a 6:22.09, just a few seconds slower than Williams with a 6:17.03 and just ahead of WPI with a time of 6:27.72. The Varsity 8 A boat followed this up with a second place finish in 6:09.57, yet again cutting off time from the weekend before. William narrowly finished first with a 6:05.2.

The Engineers were victorious in their final event, the Varsity 4, finishing first with a time of 7:15.90. Connecticut College was second fastest in the event, completing the course in 7:19.18.

MIT will be on the road again next weekend, traveling to Princeton, N.J. for a regatta against Princeton and Harvard on Lake Carnegie on Saturday, April 20.
