    WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – MIT’s heavyweight crew team opened competition at the 2014 IRA Regatta on a blue-skied Friday on Mercer Lake. Tech qualified its Varsity 4 in the 112th annual Regatta, a three-day spectacle that is attended by over 1,000 collegiate athletes each year.

    PRINCETON, N.J. - After officially opening the 2013-14 season at the Head of the Charles Regatta last weekend, the MIT heavyweight crew team returned to the water, this time traveling to New Jersey, to row in the Princeton Chase. Facing a number of competitors from all over the States, including those from California, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, the Engineers fielded a pair of eights that competed in the varsity competition, an event that included 60 boats.

Tech entered a Club Eights boat in the regatta that competed on the first day and a Championship Eights boat that raced the following day.

    CHUNGJU, South Korea – Former MIT crew members Michael Hwang ’13 and Steve Young ’09 recently represented the United States in the World Championships that took place in South Korea on Tangeum Lake from August 25 – September 1. Hwang was part of the men’s lightweight team and Young was on the men’s heavyweight team during their time at MIT.
