  • Intercollegiate Rowing Association Announces 2015 All-Academic Honorees

    The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Board of Stewards has announced the recipients of the 2015 IRA All-Academic distinction. A total of 295 student-athletes from 30 institutions were honored, with MIT standing fourth with 23 representatives from its men’s heavyweight, men’s lightweight, and women’s lightweight teams.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Wraps Up Year at IRA National Championship

    WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Competing in the three-day IRA National Championship on Mercer Lake, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team saw its varsity four make its second straight appearance in the petite final. Racing each day, the Engineers closed out the event in fourth place on Sunday morning.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Has Solid Outing at EARC Eastern Sprints

    WORCESTER, Mass. – The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team kicked off its postseason with a pair of entries in the EARC Eastern Sprints on Sunday. Racing on Lake Quinsigamond, the varsity eight placed fourth in the third level final while the varsity four was fifth in the grand final.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Races at Dad Vail Regatta

    PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In its regular-season finale, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team traveled to Philadelphia for the Dad Vail Regatta on Friday. The Engineers, making their first appearance in the event since 2011, saw the varsity four advance to the quarterfinals.
  • Tech Competes in Devil’s Lake Challenge

    BARABOO, Wis. – In one of its final outings before its postseason push, the MIT men's heavyweight crew team competed in the Devil's Lake Challenge on Saturday. The varsity eight defeated Georgetown for the first time since 2009, but fell to host Wisconsin in the afternoon while the JV4+ finished fifth.
  • MIT Has Solid Showing Against Bates and Delaware

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Competing against Bates College and the University of Delaware in its final home race of the season, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team generated a pair of second-place finishes on Saturday morning. Held on the Charles River, the Engineers negotiated eight mile per hour winds along with strong gusts on the 2,000 meter course.
  • Engineers Battle Princeton and Harvard in the Compton Cup

    PRINCETON, N.J. – Racing in calm and sunny conditions with a slight tailwind on Lake Carnegie, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team competed against Princeton and Harvard in the Compton Cup on Saturday morning. The Engineers’ lone entry, a varsity eight boat, came in third place.
  • MIT Men’s Heavyweight Crew Captures Donahue Cup

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Relocated due to ice at Worcester’s Lake Quinsigamond, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team capitalized on the home-course advantage to win the Donahue Cup on Saturday morning. The Engineers bested WPI and Williams College to record their first win in the event since 2009.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Opens Spring Season on the Charles River

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team kicked off its spring season by competing against Columbia, Dartmouth, and Holy Cross on the Charles River Saturday morning. The Engineers’ two entries, the varsity 8+ and the JV4+, both finished fourth in their respective races.
  • MIT Competes at Foot of the Charles

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its final outing of the fall, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team saw three boats compete at the Foot of the Charles on Saturday morning. The Engineers captured 20th and 24th place in the varsity 4+ in addition to finishing seventh in the open eight race.
  • Engineers Battle at Princeton Chase

    PRINCETON, N.J. – Competing for the second weekend in a row, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team traveled to Lake Carnegie for the three-mile Princeton Chase on Sunday. With two entries in the eights competition, the Engineers claimed 28th and 58th place.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Opens 2014-15 Campaign at Head of the Charles

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its first action of the 2014-15 season, the men’s heavyweight crew team represented MIT in the 50th edition of the Head of the Charles Regatta held this past weekend. Competing on Saturday, the Engineers finished 26th in the Club Eights competition and then claimed 12th place in Sunday’s Collegiate Eights.
