  • Intercollegiate Rowing Association Announces 2017 All-Academic Honorees

    The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Board of Stewards has announced the All-Academic Team for the 2016-17 academic year. A total of 336 student-athletes from 32 institutions were honored, with MIT producing 19 qualifiers, including an IRA-best 10 women’s lightweight representatives.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Finishes 11th at IRA National Championship

    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team capped off its season by capturing 11th place in the Varsity 4+ portion of the IRA National Championship held this past weekend.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Races at EARC Sprints

    Battling cold, windy, and rainy conditions at the EARC Sprints on Sunday, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team placed fifth in the Varsity 8 Third Level Final while the 2V8 was sixth in its Third Level Final.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Competes in Cochrane Cup

    Racing on flat water with a slight headwind, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team battled with Wisconsin for the Cochrane Cup while local foe Boston University joined the action on Saturday morning. BU, Wisconsin, and the Engineers finished 1-2-3 in both the Varsity 8 and 2V8 competitions.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Defeats Bates
    April 22, 2017
    For the third year in a row the MIT men’s heavyweight Varsity 8 defeated Bates College on Saturday morning. In the 2V8 competition the Engineers came in second, sandwiched between the Bobcats’ 2V8 and 3V8 entries.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Captures Third Straight Donahue Cup
    April 15, 2017
    Racing on flat water under sunny skies with a 10 mile per hour headwind on Saturday, the MIT men’s heavyweight Varsity 8 won the Donahue Cup for the third year in a row. In addition, the Engineers’ 2V8 secured second place in a field of four teams.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Races at George Washington Invitational
    April 08, 2017
    Due to high winds, the two-day George Washington Invitational was compressed into one day of racing for the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team on Saturday. The Varsity 8 captured second place with one of the fastest 2,000 meter times in Institute history in its first outing and then finished third later in the day. Meanwhile, the 2V8 placed third in both of its races.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Battles Holy Cross and Columbia
    April 02, 2017
    Competing in challenging conditions that featured 15-20 mile per hour headwinds and very choppy water, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team lost to Holy Cross and later on Columbia in the Alumni Cup on Saturday.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Defeats Coast Guard in Spring Opener

    Racing in ideal conditions that featured temperatures in the 40s with a slight tailwind and flat water, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team kicked off the spring portion of its schedule by posting an 11-second victory over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in the Varsity 8 race on Saturday morning.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Finishes Fall Season at Foot of the Charles
    November 15, 2016
    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team closed out the fall portion of its schedule by competing in the Foot of the Charles on Sunday. An event that features mostly four-man boats, the Engineers battled with regular foes Harvard and Boston University along with guest Brown University.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Competes in Pairs Race and Dartmouth Green Monster
    November 08, 2016
    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team split the weekend at the Pairs Race on Saturday and the Dartmouth Green Monster on Sunday. The Engineers’ top duo of sophomores Charlie Inman (Grafton, Mass.) and Patrick Dent (McLean, Va.) placed 18th at the Pairs Race while the Novice 8 captured 15th place at Dartmouth.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Places 14th at the Princeton Chase
    October 31, 2016
    Racing in perfect conditions with warm temperatures and flat water at the three-mile Princeton Chase on Sunday, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team saw its first Varsity 8 capture 14th place while the second Varsity 8 ranked 39th out of 44 entries.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Collegiate Eight Captures Seventh Place at Head of the Charles
    October 23, 2016
    The MIT’s men’s heavyweight Collegiate 8+ captured seventh place at the Head of the Charles on Sunday, marking its second straight top-10 finish. Earlier on Saturday, the Club 8+ finished 23rd.
