NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY TO JOIN THE TEAM
MIT has a team for you! If you're not in good shape now, don't sweat it!
Practice in the AFTERNOON
We're Ready to Welcome YOU to the MIT Crew tradition
NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED!
For over 75 years, walk-on athletes have been the foundation of MIT Crew. Every fall MIT Crew recruits new students to learn the sport and train as a team. These first-year athletes compete nationally against other first-year collegiate rowers as members of the MIT Freshman/Novice Crew program.
MIT HAS A TEAM FOR YOU!
We have men and women's heavyweight and lightweight squads, so opportunities exist for nearly all incoming student athletes. Men's lightweights race below 170 pounds, while women's lightweights race below 135 pounds.
WE WILL HELP YOU GET STRONG AND FIT
Let's be real. You might not be in top physical shape right today. We are ready to help you learn rowing while progressing through a thoughtful training plan that will make you stronger, fitter, and ready to race. Your improvement and success makes us all better and faster. Training, team work, and passion are all part of being proud to me a member of our team. It begins with simply coming to practice ready to improve.
SEE YOU AT 5? MIT CREW PRACTICES AT 5 IN THE AFTERNOON
Our team members view going to the boathouse in the afternoon as a break from the rigors of their studies, labs, P-sets, and recitations. Planning a daily schedule around practice enables our student-athletes to organize their studies and helps them perform better academically - in fact, MIT Crew has one of the highest GPA's of any MIT varsity sport It's All Here, Ready for You. We have one of the most recognized and historic boathouses in the United States. It's a short walk from anywhere on campus, situated on the Charles River, just west of the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge. Our doors are always open to new athletes looking for an amazing challenge.
