Men's Fencing Defeats Cornell and Brown at Brandeis Invitational

Waltham, Mass. - In its final competition of the semester, the MIT men's fencing team went 2-3 at the Brandeis University Invitational on Sunday. The Engineers (5-5) topped Cornell University (18-9) and Brown University (14-13) but were defeated by Yale University (15-12), St. John's University (20-7), and University of North Carolina (14-13). Senior Benjamin Lin (Beaverton, Ore.) led the sabre unit with a 12-3 record while freshman Sheel Patel (El Paso, Texas) paced the epee contingent with an 8-4 ledger. Freshman Avi Zeff (Philadelphia, Pa.) produced the best performance for the foil squad with a tally of 8-7.
