Patel Claims Epee Crown, Men’s Fencing Finishes Second at New England Championship

- The Lead: For the second year in a row the MIT men's fencing team was the runner up at the New England Intercollegiate Fencing Championship which was held on Saturday. Sophomore Sheel Patel (El Paso, Texas) captured the individual epee title, the Engineers' first since Joey Rafidi '14 won the event in 2014, while the squad ranked third overall. Senior Tzer Wong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) tied for third place in the sabre standings as MIT was third out of 11 teams. Sophomore Avi Zeff (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the foil unit with a career-best seventh-place finish, helping the team take fourth place in the rankings.
