MIT Football Opens 2012 Season at Home

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT will kick off the 2012 football season at home when it hosts Becker College on September 8 at 1:00 p.m. on Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium. It will be the first of five home games on the nine-game, 2012 schedule for the Engineers, a schedule that also includes a pair of Friday contests.

MIT will start the season with back-to-back home games. After hosting Becker, the Engineers will take on the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Sept. 15. The game, which will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools, will also be the first contest of the season against a New England Football Conference opponent.

Games against Boyd Division foes in the NEFC will fill out the rest of the schedule for MIT. The Engineers will hit the road for the first time in 2012 on Sept. 21 when they face Curry College in the first Friday game of the season.

Football Alumni Weekend will begin another two-game home stretch when MIT hosts UMass Dartmouth on Sept. 29. The Engineers will close out the home stand on October 6 against Plymouth State University before heading out on the road again to take on Western New England University on October 13.

Another Friday night contest will mark Senior Day as MIT plays its final home game of the season on Oct. 19 against Salve Regina University. The Engineers will close out the regular season with a pair of road games, the only time during the season MIT will play back-to-back games on the road. First up will be a trip to Nichols College on Oct. 27 before the final regular season game at Endicott College on November 3.
