CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Another preseason honor rolled in for the MIT football team today when junior Elliot Tobin (Minnetonka, Minn.) was named a second team preseason All-American by D3football.com. He is the only player from a New England Football Conference School (NEFC) to be named to the honor.
Tobin, who was the NEFC Offensive Lineman of the Year, a first team all-conference selection and an honorable mention All-American in 2014 from his guard position, was a key component to an offensive unit that rewrote the MIT record book and helped the Engineers to an undefeated regular season and their first appearance in the NCAA Division III Football Playoff last season. He blocked for a rushing attack that averaged over 240 yards per game on the ground and a passing game that churned out over 200 yards an outing. Overall the unit led the NEFC in total offense and scoring, setting new school single-season records in both.
