CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Five unanswered goals by UMass Dartmouth in the fourth quarter propelled it to an 11-4 win over MIT in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Nicklaus Prozinski (Ashland, Mass.) racked up six goals, including four during the final frame, for the Corsairs (4-0) while freshman Jonah Hessels (Poolesville, Md.) paced the Engineers (0-1) with a goal and an assist.

Junior Justin Lawless (Quincy, Mass.) opened the scoring for the visitors at the 8:48 mark of the first quarter but freshman Paul Orrson (Baltimore, Md.) buried the equalizer just over a minute later. UMass Dartmouth quickly regained the lead when sophomore Connor Gaffney (Andover, Mass.) redirected a feed from junior Jordan MacPherson (Westwood, Mass.); however, junior Britt Cyr's (Cincinnati, Ohio) solo effort evened the score at two late in the quarter. Although the Corsairs controlled the ball for the majority of the second stanza the deadlock continued until junior Adam Niden (Walpole, Mass.) found the back of the net with 1:35 remaining before the intermission.

Back-to-back goals by Prozinski, the second assisted by junior Todd Davis (East Sandwich, Mass.), increased UMass Dartmouth's cushion to 5-2 following five minutes of action in the third quarter. MIT ended its scoring drought when Hessels set up freshman Luke Verdi (Middletown, Md.) for a man-up goal with 5:31 left in the quarter.

After being held scoreless for over 10 minutes, the Corsairs responded with their pivotal fourth-quarter rally. Prozinski produced three goals as Niden generated two goals and an assist to increase UMass Dartmouth's advantage to 10-3. An unassisted marker by Hessels proved to be the final goal for the Engineers while Prozinski capped the scoring with 2:29 on the clock.

In net, senior Christopher Rullan (Wexford, Pa.) amassed 18 saves and seven groundballs while classmate Mike Gibson (Natick, Mass.) went 6-of-9 in faceoffs and added four groundballs. Freshman Nick Uhlenhuth (Louisville, Ky.) rounded out the Cardinal and Gray with three groundballs.

Gaffney finished with a goal and an assist as freshman Zach Drolette (Burlington, Vt.) won eight of his 13 faceoffs and totaled six groundballs. Senior Ryan Holbrook (Braintree, Mass.) and junior Steve Tarpey (Worcester, Mass.) both posted five groundballs, followed by four from MacPherson. Junior Dan Dawley (Revere, Mass.) led the way with three caused turnovers as Lawless chipped in two of his own. Junior Nick Thayer (Chelmsford, Mass.) collected seven saves in 56 minutes of action while classmate Jesse Johnson (Pembroke, Mass.) closed out the game for the Corsairs.

Both squads return to action on Saturday, March 16. MIT will visit the University of New England while UMass Dartmouth will host Nichols College.
