Men’s Lacrosse Receives Seven NEWMAC All-Conference Awards, Including Athlete and Rookie of the Year

Westwood, Mass. (May 8) – Senior Graham Davis (Crofton, Md.) was named the NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Year while freshman Luke Gianni (Henderson, Nev.) was voted the Rookie of the Year, marking the first time in program history MIT has received these major awards during the same season. In addition, Davis and Gianni along with seniors Mitch Turley (Westfield, Ind.) and David Klee (East Greenbush, N.Y.) earned spots on the All-Conference First Team. Senior Jack Kelly (Milford, Del.) rounded out the honors by representing the Engineers' on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

The recipient of the program's second straight Athlete of the Year nod and fourth All-Conference First Team award, Davis paced the NEWMAC with an Institute-record 51 goals this season. He also finished second in points (66) and ninth in assists (15).

Gianni became MIT's fifth conference Rookie of the Year after a strong season on the faceoff "x" where he ranked third in faceoffs (152-for-232), 10th in faceoff percentage (65.5), and second in the conference in groundballs (102). His groundball total also tied for the third-best in team history.

A second-team selection last year, Turley powered the Engineers' midfield with 22 goals and 28 points. Klee collected his third All-Conference accolade by ranking fourth in the NEWMAC in caused turnovers (23) and 12th in groundballs (43).
