- The Lead: Five unanswered goals spanning the third and fourth quarters helped the MIT men's lacrosse team pull away for a 15-10 victory over Curry College on Thursday afternoon. For the second time this season, junior Jack Strachan (Moresville, N.C.) powered the Engineers with five goals and an assist.

- Sophomore Oliver Heins (Fair Haven, N.J.) opened the scoring with 10:32 on the clock and then classmate Luke Gianni (Henderson, Nev.) won the faceoff and found the back of the net. Curry quickly got on the scoreboard but solo strikes by first-year James Santoro (Tewksbury, N.J.) and junior Aidan Westley (Palos Verdes, Calif.) gave MIT a 4-1 lead at the 6:32 mark. Three minutes later, the Colonels registered a man-up goal to stay within striking distance at the end of the frame.

- Curry narrowed the gap to 4-3 after 3:46 elapsed in the second stanza. The Engineers responded with a 3-1 spurt, which featured two goals by Strachan. The Colonels countered with three straight goals, tying the game at 7-7 with 10 seconds to go. For the second time, Gianni won the ensuing faceoff and scored with three ticks left, giving MIT an 8-7 edge at halftime.

- The hosts tallied the equalizer at the 10:27 mark of the third quarter but sophomore Mark Heatzig (Boca Raton, Fla.) put the Engineers back in front exactly 1:28 later. The score remained unchanged until Santoro connected on a pass from Strachan, giving MIT a 10-8 cushion with 2:23 remaining.

- The defensive battled continued in the fourth quarter until the Engineers generated three goals during a span of 3:06. Strachan started the rally with a man-up strike at the 9:14 mark and then Heatzig gave the visitors some breathing room with 6:51 on the clock. Strachan capped MIT's pivotal run 43 seconds later. Despite the deficit Curry continued to attack, closing the gap to 13-10 with 2:47 left to play. The Engineers replied with strikes by Strachan and Santoro at 1:27 and four seconds, respectively.

- Santoro finished with three goals, one assist, and four groundballs while Gianni collected 11 groundballs and won 18 of his 26 faceoff attempts. Senior Aubrey Toland (Princeton, N.J.) and junior Joe Vasile (Webster, N.Y.) both posted three groundballs as Toland chipped in two caused turnovers. Junior Jameson Kief (Planstville, Conn.) produced two caused turnovers while first-year goalie Lukas Drexler-Bruce (Denver, Colo.) made eight saves in his first intercollegiate start.

- Both teams registered 36 shots, but MIT had a 25-18 advantage in shots on goals. The Engineers also led the way in faceoff wins (18-10) and groundballs (39-21).

- MIT went 22-of-26 in clears while the Colonels were 23-of-26. The Engineers scored during one of their two extra-man opportunities, however, Curry was 2-of-8 while having a player advantage.
