CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - A 2-0 victory over Johnson & Wales University helped MIT goalkeeper Morgan Mills establish a new Institute mark of 10 career shutouts on Wednesday afternoon. Rookies Paul Hoffman and Joshua Campoverde supplied the offense for the Engineers (8-2-1), tallying a goal apiece.

The majority of the first half was evenly played, with the Wildcats (7-7-1) having a slight 7-5 advantage in shots. Tech ended the deadlock with 5:34 remaining when Paul Hoffman, who entered the game moments earlier, scored the first goal of his career on a cross by Ryan Sheffler.

MIT took a 2-0 lead less than five minutes into the second frame due Sheffler's efforts. A shot of his bounced off the chest of Johnson & Wales goalie Brenton Blanchard and landed at the feet of Joshua Campoverde who booted the ball in for the score. The remainder of the game was a defensive battle with both squads stopping several scoring opportunities.

In the net, Morgan Mills collected six saves for MIT. Brenton Blanchard had four saves for the Wildcats.

The next game for MIT will be on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 11:00 a.m. when it hosts NEWMAC foe Springfield College.
