Ryan Sheffler Earns All-Conference First Team Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its All-Conference teams for men's soccer on Tuesday afternoon, and for the second straight year, senior co-captain Ryan Sheffler garnered First Team honors. He is joined on the all-star squad by senior teammate Alex Morgan, who was named to the Second Team.

MIT has had at least one member of its men's soccer team named to the All-Conference First Team each year since the NEWMAC's inception in 1998.

Sheffler recorded seven goals and four assists for 18 points this season, leading the Engineers in all three categories. He finished the campaign tied for third in the NEWMAC in both goals and overall points. The Beaumont, Texas, native also entered the MIT record books in a number of categories - he finished his career tied for seventh all-time in career goals (20), tied for fourth in career assists (17) and eighth in career points (57).

Morgan, who earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2003, totaled 11 points on four goals and three assists.

Babson's sophomore forward Tim Winn was named Player of the Year after leading the NEWMAC in goals, assists and overall points. His coach, Jon Anderson, earned Coach of the Year plaudits, while Springfield forward Adrian Schippers was honored as the Rookie of the Year.
