No. 19 Squash Edged By No. 18 Middlebury, 5-4

The Lead: In its second to last regular season match, the No. 19 ranked MIT squash team was edged by No. 18 Middlebury College, 5-4, on Saturday in Vermont. 


- The Engineers opened up with the first win of the day at position nine as senior Justin Restivo (Phoenxville, Pa.) edged Thomas Wolpow, 8-11, 11-8, 13-11, 5-11, 11-4. However, the Panthers took the lead right back with a pair of 3-2 wins at positions three and six as sophomore Henry Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and first-year Keith Lamp (Short Hills, N.J.) were edged in their respective matches.

Winton Hyatt clinched the third point for Middlebury at position number eight as he edged junior Neel Das (Needham, Mass.), 9-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-4, 11-4. Wu answered right back for the Engineers as he swept Nicholas Bermingham, 11-5, 11-8, 11-8 at position five which kept MIT's deficit at one (3-2). Middlebury's fourth point came via Jacob Ellen at position two as he edged sophomore Joe O'Connor (Madison, N.J.) in five sets coming back from a 2-1 deficit.

- Middlebury's John Epley clinched the match for the Panthers as he came from one set down to defeat sophomore Brad Levin (Cockeysville, Md.), 8-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-9 at position seven. 

- First-year Aman Sanger (New York, N.Y.) and junior Vedaant Paul Kukadia (Manhasset, N.Y.) picked up five-set wins to close today's match. Kukadia clinched point number three for MIT with his 4-11, 11-13, 11-4, 12-10, 7-11 win over Jacob Kagan, while Sanger defeated Justin Ghaeli 3-11, 1-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-6 at position one. 


- MIT will travel to No. 17 Williams College tomorrow for its final match of the regular season. Match time is slated for 2:00 pm in western Massachusetts.
