#5 Men’s Swimming Wins Every Event in Rout of Colby

Waterville, Maine – MIT's men's swimming and diving team did not drop a single first place point on Saturday en route to a 234-44 rout of Colby College. The Engineers stayed perfect on the season after being ranked fifth in the country this week by CollegeSwimming.com's College Swimming Coach's Association of America (CSCAA) Division III Poll.

Wyatt Ubellacker was the biggest contributor for the Engineers, winning two individual events and two relays. The sophomore from Georgetown, Ky. joined Ryan Terbush, Michael Liao, and Colby Dunn to win the 400 yard medley relay in 3:32.18, an event in which Tech took the top four places in. To close off the event, Ubellacker, Dunn, Craig Cheney and Scott Stephens led a Tech squad to victory in the 400 yard freestyle relay, with a time of 3:10.40. Along the way, Ubellacker also won the 50 yard butterfly (22.82), the 50 yard freestyle (21.67).

Liao, a freshman, also won two individual events. He took first place in both the 50 yard breaststroke (27.28) and the 200 yard breaststroke, in 2:12.80. Colby Dunn added to his two relay victories with an individual win in the 50 yard backstroke, in 25.18.

Freshman Remy Mock won the distance competition, taking the 1,000 yard freestyle in 10:11.95. Fellow first year Carlo Biedenharn took the 200 yard freestyle in 1:48.45. It took 4:48.25 for sophomore Max Pruner to capture the 500 yard freestyle title. The 100 yard free went to junior Andrew Pierson, in 48.89 and junior Timothy Stumbaugh won the 200 yard backstroke in 159.391.

As the day wound to a close, MIT took the top five spots in the 400 yard IM, led by freshman Jeffrey Lin, who won the event in 4:15.13.

He Chao was the only competitor from either school on the diving board, and racked up first place points on both the 1 meter and 3 meter boards.

Tech will not have much time to savor the victory, as they will be back at the Zesiger Pool on Sunday. MIT will host a tri-meet with Coast Guard and Springfield starting at 1 PM, which is available for webcasting at http://www.b2livetv.com/partner_members.asp?id=246 .
