CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Having already held the alumni meet on Oct. 13, the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will officially open their 2012-13 seasons by hosting the annual Charlie Batterman Relays on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11:00 p.m. Both squads have a packed schedule, attending ten meets before they host the NEWMAC Championships for the second year in a row on Feb. 15-17, 2013.

MIT's first dual meet will be away on Nov. 10 against NEWMAC rival Springfield, whose men and women finished third and second respectively at last year's championship meet. On Nov. 16, the women's team will host Wellesley, another conference foe, and the next day, Bowdoin and Babson will come to town for a meet at 1:00 p.m. The Engineers will host the annual MIT Winter Invitational on Nov. 30-Dec. 1, their last meet of 2012.

The Cardinal and Gray will take part in four meets in the span of two weeks when they return to the pool in January, hosting Williams (Jan. 11) and Tufts (Jan. 19) and traveling to face NEWMAC opponent Coast Guard (Jan. 12) and Amherst (Jan. 26). MIT will close the regular season at the Wheaton Invitational (Feb. 1-2) before returning home to host NEWMACs later that month. The Engineers will then have a month to prepare for the NCAA Championships that will be held in Shenandoah, Texas on March 20-23 that will close out the season.
