  • Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Recognized By CSCAA For Academic Excellence

    Norfolk, Va. (June 27) – The MIT men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams received both Scholar All-America Team and individual honors for academic excellence during the 2018 spring semester, as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Wednesday afternoon. 
  • MIT Leads Division III With Six Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Selections

    Austin, Texas. (June 12) – Six MIT student-athletes – three men and three women – have been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America At-Large teams this spring as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its selections earlier this afternoon. With six honorees this year from the At-Large category, MIT led all of Division III and was one of seven institutions from across the country to have at least three student-athletes selected for the award.
  • Six Student-Athletes Selected to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, Selected by CoSIDA

    Austin, Texas. (May 17) – Six MIT student-athletes have been recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as they were all selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Team on Thursday afternoon. All six will now appear on the national ballot for consideration for the Academic All-America At-Large Team, which will be voted on and released on Monday, June 11.
  • MIT Student-Athletes Apply Lessons From Sport To Create Robotic Kitchen

    The four engineers behind Spyce, known as the “Spyce Boys,” were all varsity athletes during their time at MIT: Kale Rogers, Brady Knight, and Michael Farid were on the water polo team, and Luke Schlueter was on the swimming and diving team. Schlueter, Rogers, and Knight graduated in 2016 as Course 2 (Mechanical Engineering) majors, while Farid finished his undergraduate degree in 2014 and earned his master’s in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 2016.
  • McKenzie Breaks 200 Breast Record as Men's Swimming and Diving Takes Fifth at Nationals

    Indianapolis, Ind. (March 24) - After he broke the 100-breast school and NEWMAC record a night ago, junior Brandon McKenzie (Brigantine, N.J.) did the same tonight in the 200-breast as he aided the MIT men's swimming and diving team to a fifth-place finish in the standings with 252.5 points. This marks the ninth straight top-10 finish at Nationals for MIT and the sixth time in program history in which the Engineers have placed in the top-5.
  • Men's Swimming and Diving Ranks Sixth Through Three Days at NCAA Championship

    Indianapolis, Ind. (Mar. 23) - Led by a fifth-place finish by the 800-free relay team and a sixth-place finish by junior Brandon McKenzie (Brigantine, N.J.) in the 100-breast, the MIT men's swimming and diving team added 57.5 points to the team score on the third night of the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship. After three full days in Indianapolis, the Engineers rank sixth with 175.5 points.
  • Men's 200 Free Relay Finishes as National Runner-Up on Second Night of NCAA Championship

    Indianapolis, Ind. (March 22) - Led by a national runner-up and All-America finish by the 200-free relay team on day two of the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championship, the MIT men's swimming and diving team moved up to fifth place in the team standings with 118 points. The Engineers also got All-America performances by their 400-medley relay team and Edskes in the 400-IM.
  • Men's Swimming and Diving Earns Five Honorable Mention All-America Honors On First Night of NCAA Championship

    Indianapolis, Ind. (March 21) - On the opening night of the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championship, the No. 4 ranked MIT men's swimming and diving team earned five Honorable Mention All-America honors and are tied for ninth place with 38 points in the team standings. This weekend's events are being held at the Indianapolis University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indiana.

(March 1) - After winning its tenth straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) crown last weekend, the No. 4 MIT men's swimming and diving team will have 13 swimmers represented at the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship, which is scheduled to take place at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis from March 21-24, 2018.

(February 28) – After winning their tenth and eighth straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships, respectively last weekend, the MIT men's and women's swimming and diving teams will send six student-athletes to compete in this weekend's NCAA Division III Northeast-North Diving Regionals hosted by Middlebury College. Action is slated to get underway at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Prior to the meet, the Engineers honored seniors William Arcand (Windsor, Va.), Jeremy Bogle (Weston, Mass.), Justin Chiu (Monterey Park, Calif.), Dane Erickson (Naples, Fla.), Dougie Kogut (Glen Burnie, Md.) and Joshua Tomazin (Austin, Texas) for their contributions towards the program over the past four years.

He also teamed up with the 200-medley relay squad comprised of sophomore Bouke Edskes (Rockville, Md.), sophomore Sam Ubellacker (Georgetown, Ky.) and senior Jeremy Bogle (Weston, Mass.) for NEWMAC Relay Team of the Week accolades.

(January 26) - In the first meeting between the two teams since 1977, the No. 4 ranked MIT men’s swimming and diving team came away with a dominant 214.5-83.5 victory over Division I Boston College on Friday evening inside the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool. In the all-time series, the Engineers now sit at 4-0 against the Eagles.

    Williamstown, Mass. (January 19) - In a double-dual meet with three of the top-17 teams in Division III, the No. 4 nationally-ranked MIT men's swimming and diving team defeated both No. 6 NYU, 177-123, and No. 17 Williams College, 204-88, on Friday afternoon in Western Massachusetts. As a team, MIT swept the top-3 spots in the 100-free, the top-2 spots in the 200-back and had three of the top 6 finishers in the 50-free, 100-fly and the 400-IM.

    Cambridge, Mass. (January 13) - Powered by multiple wins by junior Brandon McKenzie (Brigantine, N.J.) and sophomore David Morejon (Humble, Texas), the No. 4 MIT swimming and diving team defeated No. 22 Coast Guard, 189-103, on Saturday afternoon in Cambridge. As a team, MIT won 12 of a possible 16 contested events today to improve to 5-1 in dual meets this season.

    Cambridge, Mass. (December 3) - The No. 4 ranked MIT men’s swimming and diving team set three pool records and swam 14 NCAA “B” cut times en route to the 2017 Winter Invitation title. Bouke Edskes (Rockville, Md.) individually set the pool record in the 100-fly and then teamed up with the 200-medley relay to accomplish the same feat this morning, while the 400-free relay team broke the pool record to end the meet tonight.
