Solomon Qualifies For 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship

Middlebury, Vt. (March 3) - MIT sophomore diver Samuel Solomon (Rockville, Md.) has qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship after his efforts this weekend at the Northeast-North Diving Regional hosted by Middlebury College.

Solomon finished ninth on the 3-meter board this afternoon with a score of 445.50 and was followed by junior Jeremy Sands (Skokie, Ill.), who took 12th overall in the field of 20 men's divers with a score of 395.05. Solomon had a strong outing today following his fourth place finish on the 1-meter board yesterday.

The top-five finishers on the 3-meter board this afternoon were Sam Hoyt of Union College (544.45), Connor Brisson of NYU (539.90), Connor Pennington of Springfield College (503.30), Matt Mintz of Union College (472.45) and Mike Chirico of Middlebury College (456.45)

There were a total of seven qualifiers and two alternates named for the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship including Brisson, Hoyt, Mintz, Solomon, Mitchell Ryan of Bowdoin College, Chirico and Pennington. Additionally, Matthew Edkins of St. Lawrence University was named as the alternate on the 1-meter board and Davis Harrington of Union College was named as the alternate on the 3-meter board.

The 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship is scheduled to begin on March 21 in Indianapolis inside the IU Natatorium.
