Swimming & Diving Programs See 27 Student-Athletes Named to CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams

Colorado Springs, Colo. (July 3) - A combined 27 student-athletes from the MIT swimming and diving teams earned Scholar All-America and Honorable Mention Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as the organization released its selections this week. The men's team saw a Division III leading 17 selections which was two more than Denison, Kenyon and Washington University (Mo.) had this year, while the women's team had ten honorees in 2018-19, which ranked fourth in Division III.

In order to be selected for Scholar All-America honors, student-athletes must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale and must have competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championship. In order to be selected for Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors, student-athletes must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale and must have achieved an NCAA "B" cut time or must have competed at the NCAA Diving Regional. Across all divisions, 1,221 student-athletes earned First Team honors, while 890 student-athletes earned Honorable Mention accolades. 

MIT had three student-athletes earned their fourth CSCAA Scholar All-America/Honorable Mention Scholar All-America honor this year in Brandon McKenzie (Brigantine, N.J.), Morgan Matranga (Moraga, Calif.) and Dolly Payne (Los Alamitos, Calif.). The Engineers also saw senior Jeremy Sands (Skokie, Ill.) as well as juniors Bouke Edskes (Rockville, Md.) and Samuel Solomon (Rockville, Md.) earn their third award in as many years. 

Additionally, MIT had ten student-athletes honored for the second time and 11 student-athletes honored for the first time in their respective careers.
