  • Men’s Tennis Honored By ITA For Academic Success

    Tempe, Ariz. (July 24) – For the 11th straight season, the MIT men’s tennis team has been recognized for its academic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with the association’s All-Academic Team award. In addition, six student-athletes from the program received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, which marks the 11th time in the history of the award that at-least five individuals have been recognized by the ITA. In total, 735 teams and 4,328 student-athletes from across all three divisions, NAIA and JUCO were recognized by the ITA this year.
  • MIT Leads Division III With Six Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Selections

    Austin, Texas. (June 12) – Six MIT student-athletes – three men and three women – have been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America At-Large teams this spring as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its selections earlier this afternoon. With six honorees this year from the At-Large category, MIT led all of Division III and was one of seven institutions from across the country to have at least three student-athletes selected for the award.
  • Six Student-Athletes Selected to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, Selected by CoSIDA

    Austin, Texas. (May 17) – Six MIT student-athletes have been recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as they were all selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Team on Thursday afternoon. All six will now appear on the national ballot for consideration for the Academic All-America At-Large Team, which will be voted on and released on Monday, June 11.
  • MIT Falls to No. 24 Johns Hopkins, 5-1, in Tight NCAA Tournament Second Round Match

    In a close NCAA Tournament second round match, the MIT men’s tennis team fell to No. 24 Johns Hopkins University, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon at Middlebury College. This was the first meeting in the history of both programs.
  • Engineers Cruise Past Cabrini, 5-0, in NCAA Tournament First Round Match

    In the first meeting between both programs, MIT defeated Cabrini University, 5-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament on Friday afternoon at Middlebury College. Including the unfinished matches, the Engineers surrendered only four games during the day.
  • Tyler Barr’s Athlete of the Year Award Highlights Men’s Tennis NEWMAC All-Conference Selections

    Westwood, Mass. (May 8) – MIT men’s tennis junior Tyler Barr (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) became the eighth student-athlete in program history to be named as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athlete of the Year, when the league announced its All-Conference teams earlier this week.

(May 7) – Coming off its 20th straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship yesterday afternoon, the MIT men’s tennis team has learned that they will travel to Middlebury College for the opening rounds of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
  • MIT Battles Babson for 5-1 Win to Capture its 20th NEWMAC Men’s Tennis Championship

    Squaring off in the NEWMAC Men’s Tennis Championship for the sixth straight year, host and No. 1 seed MIT came out on top as it defeated No. 2 Babson College, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon. The Engineers won their 20th consecutive conference title and earned the league’s automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament. In addition, junior Alex Cauneac (Severna Park, Md.) was named the Tournament Most Outstanding Player for his performance this past week.
  • MIT Tops Wheaton, 5-0, in NEWMAC Men’s Tennis Tournament Semifinal

    Facing each other for the first time in the NEWMAC Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament since 2013, top-seeded MIT defeated No. 4 Wheaton College, 5-0, in semifinal action on Wednesday afternoon. The victory keeps the Engineers in the hunt for their 20th straight NEWMAC title.
  • Rally Falls Short for Men's Tennis as No. 22 Bates Edges MIT, 5-4

    Lewiston, Maine (April 27) - Down 3-1, the MIT men's tennis team rallied in singles play to tie the score at 3-3 and 4-4, but ultimately fell to No. 22 Bates College, 5-4, in the Engineers regular season finale on Friday evening in Maine.
  • No. 25 Men's Tennis Clinches 19th NEWMAC Regular Season Title With Come From Behind Win Over Babson

    Babson Park, Mass. (April 23) - The No. 25 MIT men's tennis team swept all six singles points after being down 2-1 after doubles to defeat Babson College, 7-2, in their New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season finale on Monday afternoon.

    WESTWOOD, Mass. (April 19) – Six student-athletes from the No. 25 MIT men’s tennis team have been named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Tennis Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by the league office this afternoon. The Engineers led the conference with six of the 16 selections this spring. Springfield had the second-most honorees with four.
  • No. 17 Brandeis Rallies to Defeat No. 25 Men's Tennis, 5-4

    Waltham, Mass. (April 19) - In a match that took well over six hours, the No. 25 MIT men's tennis team was edged by No. 17 Brandeis University, 5-4, in a non-conference contest in Waltham. The Engineers trailed 2-1 after doubles, rallied to even the score at 4-4 in singles, but it was ultimately the Judges who took the No. 6 spot to win the match.

    Cambridge, Mass. (April 18) - The No. 25 MIT men's tennis team conceded just three games against Emerson College this afternoon as the Engineers blanked the Lions, 9-0, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match in Cambridge.

    New London, Conn. (April 14) - The No. 25 MIT men's tennis remained unbeaten in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play this afternoon as the Engineers traveled to Connecticut and shut out the U.S. Coast Guard Academy by a 9-0 score.

    Cambridge, Mass. (April 11) - The No. 26 MIT men's tennis team improved to 2-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play this afternoon as the Engineers defeated Wheaton College, 8-1, inside the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble. With the win, MIT improved to 26-0 in the all-time series with Wheaton which dates back to the 1998-99 season. 
  • Men’s Tennis Sweeps NEWMAC Weekly Awards

    Westwood, Mass. (April 9) – MIT men’s tennis junior Tyler Barr (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), sophomore Albert Go (Merritt Island, Fla.) and freshman Michael Zhao (Princeton Junction, N.J.) have all earned New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards as the league office announced its selections this morning. Barr was named as the NEWMAC Singles Athlete of the Week, while Go and Zhao earned NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week honors.

    Cambridge, Mass. (March 30) - In a match that lasted well over five hours and was a rematch of last year's NCAA Regional Championship, the No. 2 ranked Bowdoin College men's tennis team defeated No. 26 MIT on Friday afternoon inside the JB Carr Tennis Bubble.
  • Comeback Falls Just Short as No. 4 Middlebury Edges No. 21 Men's Tennis

    Cambridge, Mass. (March 17) - In a battle of two nationally-ranked teams and two of the top teams in the New England Region, No. 4 Middlebury College came away with a 6-3 win over No. 21 MIT in a non-conference men's tennis match on Saturday morning in Cambridge. MIT trailed 3-0 after doubles and the Engineers attempted to comeback in singles play but the run came up just short as the Panthers held on for the 6-3 win. 
  • No. 21 Men's Tennis Drops Division III Opener to No. 17 Tufts

    Cambridge, Mass. (March 10) - In its first match against a Division III opponent this season, the No. 21 MIT men's tennis team fell to No. 17 Tufts University by a final score of 6-3.

    Cambridge, Mass. (February 21) - Playing in its first outdoor match of the spring season, the MIT men's tennis team improved to 2-1 with a 7-2 win over Division II Bentley University on Wednesday afternoon in Cambridge.
  • Men's Tennis Splits With Boston University & Merrimack In Spring Opener

    Cambridge, Mass. (February 17) - Competing for the first time during the spring season, the No. 21 ranked MIT men's tennis team split a pair of matches against Division I Boston University and Division II Merrimack College. The Engineers were edged by the Terriers, 4-3, before defeating the Warriors, 3-1, in an abbreviated match.

(February 15) – After winning its 19th straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship and reaching the NCAA regional final for the second year in a row last season, the No. 21 nationally-ranked MIT men’s tennis team has been selected first once again in the league’s 2018 preseason poll, which was released this afternoon.

(January 8) – The MIT men’s tennis team has announced its slate of matches for the 2018 spring season, which will feature 15 contests that includes six New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matches and eight home games at the DuPont Tennis Courts. The Engineers, which closed the 2017 season with a record of 18-5 and a national ranking of No. 21 after reaching the NCAA Regional Final, will be under the direction of 13-year head coach Dave Hagymas. 
  • No. 21 Men’s Tennis Wraps up Fall Season with MIT Invitational

(October 16) - Led by appearances in the quarterfinals by freshman Charles Deng (Temple City, Calif.) in the singles main bracket as well as by Alex Cauneac (Severna Park, Md.) and Tyler Barr (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) in the doubles main bracket the Engineers had a successful run at their own fall invitational over the weekend. Additionally, Victor Cheng (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Albert Go (Merritt Island, Fla.) were the runners up in the doubles back draw.

(September 30) - Led by an appearance in the Round of 16 in the singles bracket by junior Sean Ko (Danville, Calif.) and in the doubles bracket by junior Tyler Barr (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and freshman Michael Zhao (Princeton Junction, N.J.), the MIT men's tennis team had a strong showing at this year's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Regional Tournament hosted at Middlebury College's Proctor Tennis Courts over the weekend.
