CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (May 7) – Coming off its 20th straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship yesterday afternoon, the MIT men's tennis team has learned that they will travel to Middlebury College for the opening rounds of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
MIT (11-7), who earned the NEWMAC's automatic bid with a 5-1 win over Babson over the weekend, will face-off against Cabrini University (12-5), who won the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship, on Friday in the opening round at the Proctor Tennis Courts in Middlebury, Vermont at a time to be determined later. This weekend's match will mark the first-ever meeting between MIT and Cabrini.
Also in this regional are hosts and No. 1 Middlebury (20-4), Wilkes (20-5), Colby-Sawyer (9-10) and No. 24 Johns Hopkins (18-3). MIT will be making its 22nd appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament this season. A year ago, Middlebury made the National Semifinals, while MIT and Johns Hopkins both appeared in the third round last season.
