CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT men's tennis team kicked off the fall season this past weekend as it traveled to Williams College for the ITA New England Championships. Colin Klick, Eric Beren and Mark Egan made the trip for the Engineers.
In singles play, Klick lost in his first round match, 6-1, 6-4, to Ricardo Robiglio (Wentworth). Egan narrowly defeated Josh Feinberg (Bates), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5), before falling to George Mayer (Middlebury), 6-2, 2-6, 6-0. Beren met the same fate as he earned an opening round 6-3, 6-4 win over Matt Nakagawa (Coast Guard) and then lost to Bret Ramsay (Trinity), 6-2, 6-1.
Beren and Egan were the lone representatives for Tech in the doubles bracket. The duo quickly defeated Nakagawa and Ryan Beck (Coast Guard), 8-2. They went on to post an 8-4 victory over Mather Neill and Zach Schuman (Trinity) before losing to Salih Unsal and Mayer (Middlebury), 9-8 (6) in the quarterfinals.
