Princeton, N.J. - With the last-minute cancellation of the MIT Spring Invitational on Saturday, only a handful of the members of the MIT men's track and field team competed this past week. On Wednesday and Thursday, three decathletes traveled to Holy Cross, while, on Thursday evening, a few others traveled to Princeton for the Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational, which took place the following night.

Freshman Adrian Samsel (Whippany, N.J.), junior Jordan Mizerak (Lexington, Mass.) and senior Matthew Falk (Barnegat, N.J.) traveled to Worcester, Mass. in an attempt to qualify for the New England Division III Championship. Samsel, who is still relatively new to the event, scored 5518 points, while Mizerak score 4731. Falk only competed in the throwing events and high jump.

Another group of Engineers were due to leave Cambridge for the invitational on Friday, but due to the happenings back home, only two MIT runners competed. Junior Justin Bullock (Detroit, Mich.) was up first in the 1500m, finishing 51st with a time of 3:58.51. To close the day, sophomore Benji Xie (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) ran the 5000m, competing with rain the entire time. He crossed the line in 56th place in 14:56.63.

MIT has a busy two weeks coming up, with the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship at Springfield College next weekend and the New England Division III Championship at Colby College the week after.
