  • MIT Track and Field Lands 27 on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

    NEW ORLEANS, La. – A combined 27 student-athletes from the men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the 2015-16 year. The organization honored student-athletes for their efforts both in the classroom and on the track.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After wrapping up the 2016 campaign at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship a few weeks ago, MIT seniors States Lee (Charlotte, N.C.), D. Carrington Motley (Pittsburgh, Pa.) as well as juniors Colin Godwin (Cary, N.C.) and Arinze Okeke (Hawthorne, Calif.) have all been named Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-Americans this year as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

    WAVERLY, Iowa - On the final day of the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship, MIT senior Michael Kaba (Jackson, N.J.), junior Arinze Okeke (Hawthorne, Calif.), and sophomores Livingston Albritten (Plano, Texas) and William Ruschel (Bethel Park, Pa.) all earned All-America honors. The 4x400-meter relay team comprised of Kaba, senior States Lee (Charlotte, N.C.), senior Derek Barnes (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) and junior Danny Newman (St. Charles, Ill.) also recieved All-America accolades in the meet's final event. As a team, the Engineers finished 22nd overall of 81 scoring programs with 13 points.

    WAVERLY, Iowa - Seniors States Lee (Charlotte, N.C.) and Michael Kaba (Jackson, N.J.) competed for the MIT men's track and field team on day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship this afternoon at Wartburg College.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - MIT men's track and field head coach Halston Taylor and assistant coach Nick Davis have been named as the New England Men's Regional Coaches of the Year as announced yesterday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) yesterday afternoon. On top of the pair of All-Region coaching awards, 13 men's track and field student-athletes were named All-Region.

Individually, two members of the women's tennis team have qualified for the NCAA Division III Singles Championship.     WESTFIELD, Mass. – The MIT men’s track and field team finished in second place at the ECAC Championship In its final tune up before the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship. The Engineers totaled 58 points which ranked just behind Rowan, which won with 90.5 points.

Behind MIT was WPI (169.5 points) in second and Coast Guard (143) in third.

    BOSTON, Mass. – A league-leading 76 athletes represented MIT on the 2016 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Spring Academic All-Conference Team. The Engineers finished the year with a conference-high 174 selections, followed by Springfield College with 143.
  • Men's Track and Field Competes at Sean Collier, Larry Ellis Invites

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 20 nationally ranked MIT men's track and field team competed at both the Sean Collier Invitational, held in Cambridge, and the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, over the weekend. Neither meet was scored as the Engineers were looking for marks to qualify them for postseason competition, which begins next Saturday with the NEWMAC Championship.

    WORCESTER, Mass. - MIT men's track and field sophomore Luke Gray (North Hampton, N.H.) competed this week at the Holy Cross Decathlon. With a total score of 5511, Gray took 15th place among elite NCAA Division I, II and III student-athletes.

    WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The No. 15 ranked MIT men’s track and field team fell to No. 11 Williams College, 116-85, at the Dick Farley Invitational on Saturday afternoon. As a team, the Engineers won seven individual events and set 12 personal records, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the best team in New England.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Hosting its first outdoor meet of the 2016 season, the MIT men’s track and field team finished first out of four teams with 227 points on Saturday afternoon at Steinbrenner Stadium. Behind MIT was RPI (157 points), Bates College (145) and Tufts University (132).
  • Men’s Sprinters Find Success at Yale Invitational

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The MIT men’s track and field sprinters had great success at the Yale Invitational yesterday afternoon at the Cuyler Field and Dwyer Track. In eight sprint events, the Engineers’ won four events, and placed in the top three in the other four. All track events took place outdoors, but because of the poor weather, all jumpers were moved indoors.

    GRINNELL, Iowa – It was a successful second day of the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship for MIT as the Engineers earned six All-America awards in three events. As a team, MIT finished tied for 16th place overall with 12 points at the two-day meet held inside the Charles Benson Bear ’39 Recreation and Athletic Center on the campus of Grinnell College.
