Tim Lee Breaks Record as Engineers Sweep Daniel Webster, Mount Ida

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins against Daniel Webster College and Mount Ida College on Saturday. The nationally-ranked No. 12 Engineers swept North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division foe Daniel Webster, 25-15, 25-22, 25-12, before defeating Mount Ida, 25-20, 25-21, 25-22. In addition, Tim Lee became MIT's all-time leader in career assists as he eclipsed Jordan Wan's total of 3,324. Earlier, Mount Ida outlasted Daniel Webster, 26-28, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10.

Ken Siebert paced MIT (25-6, 13-1 NECVA) with 12 kills and four aces while David Thomas totaled 11 kills and three blocks. Billy Evans chipped in nine kills as Benson George contributed three blocks and three aces. Jeremy Velazquez anchored the defense with nine digs, followed by eight from Caine Jette. Tim Lee rounded out the squad with 38 assists and six digs.

Joe Walz powered Daniel Webster (6-13, 5-9 NECVA) with seven kills, six digs, and an ace as Chris Shannon recorded eight digs and six kills. Ian Catenzaro added six kills and three digs to the Eagles' cause.

Spencer Hastings posted 23 kills, 10 digs, three blocks, and two aces for Mount Ida (7-18). Thomas Belton added 22 kills, four digs, three blocks, and three aces while McCoy Arnoux had eight kills and a block. Shane Wilson distributed 49 assists to go along with 14 digs and an ace.

Chris Shannon led Daniel Webster with 17 kills, nine digs, and two aces as Joe Walz compiled 16 kills, five digs, and three aces. Kyle Clement dished out 27 assists in the loss.

David Thomas racked up 10 kills, a .533 hitting percentage, four blocks, and two aces as Billy Evans amassed nine kills, a .615 hitting performance, three blocks, and two aces. Garrett Winther totaled eight kills and a .700 hitting percentage while Benson George notched five kills and two aces. Jeremy Velazquez led the way with 11 digs as Caine Jette and Tim Lee both finished with five.

Thomas Belton tallied 15 kills, four digs, and two blocks as Spencer Hastings registered nine digs, eight kills, three blocks, and an ace. Shane Wilson contributed 29 assists and four digs for the Mustangs.

Next up for MIT will be a home match against No. 11 Rivier College on Tuesday, March 15. Mount Ida and Daniel Webster return to action on Tuesday, March 22. Mount Ida will travel to Emerson College while Daniel Webster will host Wentworth Institute of Technology in its season finale.
