- The Lead: In its first road match of the season, the MIT men's volleyball team battled Regis College for a 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-11, 15-11 victory on Tuesday night. Senior Martin Krasuski (Aurora, Ill.) led all players with 18 kills and four aces to go along with a .317 hitting performance and three blocks for the Engineers.

- Regis jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the first set but MIT battled back, going ahead 13-12 on a serving error. The Pride countered with a 9-3 run, however, the Engineers closed the gap to 21-19 on a kill by junior Tavish Smith (Laguna Beach, Calif.). This was as close as it would get as Regis pulled away for the 25-21 win.

- The early stages of the second stanza were closely played but the Engineers gradually inched out to a 15-11 lead. The Pride replied with six unanswered points to go back in front; however, a pair of Krasuski kills returned the lead back to MIT. The visitors maintained the slight edge down the stretch as a hitting error gave them a 25-22 victory.

- Regis slowly established an 18-12 advantage in the third set. The Engineers chipped away at the deficit as a kill from Krasuski brought it within two (20-18). The Pride recorded four of the next six points; however, two kills from Smith and a block by sophomore Yize Dong (Moraga, Calif.) extended the frame. Unfortunately the comeback attempt was denied due to a Regis kill.

- Despite the setback, MIT carried the momentum into the fourth set as it recorded the first 12 points en route to a 25-11 victory.

- The Engineers raced out to an 8-2 advantage in the final frame but a kill by the Pride and a trio of hitting errors closed the margin to two (8-6). MIT responded with a 5-2 spurt to create some breathing room before capturing the set, 15-11.

- Smith finished with 13 kills as sophomore Skyler Kaufman (Needham, Mass.) tallied nine kills, six blocks, and two aces. Dong racked up 40 assists, six digs, and three blocks while senior Jordan Lucier (Torrance, Calif.) and freshman Thomas Nelson (San Ramon, Calif.) collected seven and six digs, respectively.

- MIT continues its road trip on Friday, Jan. 27 for the start of the two-day Johnson & Wales University Invitational. The Engineers open the tournament at 4:00 p.m. against Lasell College which will immediately be followed by a rematch with Regis.
