  • Men's Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

    Lexington, Ky. (July 22) - For the 11th time in program history and four the fourth consecutive season, the MIT men's volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
  • Four Engineers Named to UVC President's List

    Rochester, N.Y. (July 17) - Four members of the MIT men's volleyball program have been named to the 2019 United Volleyball Conference (UVC) President's List for achieving academic success in the classroom this spring. In addition, the program earned the UVC All-Academic Team award for the fifth consecutive season.
  • Kaufman Named AVCA Division III Honorable Mention All-American

    Lexington, Ky. (April 22) - For the first time in his collegiate career, MIT men's volleyball senior Skyler Kaufman (Needham, Mass.) has been named as an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Honorable Mention All-American. Kaufman is now the ninth AVCA All-America selection in program history and was one of 31 student-athletes honored this spring and was one of seven middle blockers chosen.
  • Men's Volleyball Falls to NYU in UVC Quarterfinal Contest

    MIT men's volleyball saw its 2019 campaign come to a close this afternoon as the fifth-seeded Engineers fell to the fourth-seeded Violets of NYU in the quarterfinals of the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) playoffs hosted at Caldwell University in New Jersey. 
  • Nelson Becomes Program's First Two-Time UVC Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year

    Rochester, N.Y. (April 10) - For the second straight season, men's volleyball junior Thomas Nelson (San Ramon, Calif.) has been named as the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year as the league office announced its 2019 major awards and All-Conference teams this morning. In addition to his major award, Nelson was placed on the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team, while senior Skyler Kaufman (Needham, Mass.) earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team. 
  • Men's Volleyball Set to Open UVC Tournament Against NYU on Friday

    Cambridge, Mass. (April 10) - The MIT men's volleyball team, which is receiving votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Poll and is 7th in this week's NCAA Division III East Regional Rankings, will be making its return to the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Tournament this weekend for the fourth time in program history. Top-seeded and nationally-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology will be the host of the six-team tournament which will take place at Caldwell University in Caldwell, N.J. through Sunday, April 14.
  • Men's Volleyball Caps Regular Season With Wins Over Dean & Eastern Nazarene

    MIT men's volleyball closed the regular season with victories over Dean College and Eastern Nazarene College on the road this afternoon. The two wins puts MIT's 2019 total at 23 marking the most wins for the program since the 2014 campaign when the Engineers finished the season at 24-7.
  • Men's Volleyball Knocks Off No. 11 Endicott on Senior Night

    Powered by double-digit kills from seniors Steven Timberman (Merrick, N.Y.) and Skyler Kaufman (Needham, Mass.) as well as junior Thomas Nelson (San Ramon, Calif.), the MIT men's volleyball team knocked off nationally-ranked and regionally-ranked Endicott College in four sets tonight in Cambridge. 
  • Men's Volleyball Picks Up 20th Win of Season with Split Against No. 5 Benedictine & Illinois Tech

    The MIT men's volleyball team picked up its 20th win of the season this afternoon as the Engineers split with No. 5 Benedictine and Illinois Tech on the team's final day in the Chicago area. This marks the first 20-win season under head coach Todd Elwell and 15th in program history.
  • Wang Powers Men's Volleyball to 3-2 Win at No. 14 Dominican

    Powered by a career-high 17 kills by sophomore Nathan Wang (Saratoga, Calif.), the MIT men's volleyball team edged No. 14 Dominican University in five sets (26-24, 23-25, 27-25, 18-25, 15-12) in River Forest, Illinois on the team's second day in the Chicago area.
  • Men's Volleyball Sweeps Aurora & North Park to Open Trip to Chicago

    On the first day of their trip to the Midwest, the MIT men's volleyball team swept both Aurora College and North Park University In Chicago. Today marked the first meeting with either team for the Engineers.

    Three consecutive points at the end of the third set helped California Lutheran University come from behind to sweep MIT, 25-21, 25-18, 25-23, in non-conference men’s volleyball action on Monday night.

    The MIT men's volleyball team ran its win streak to four with a victory at home over non-conference foe Emerson College. The Engineers won the match by set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 18-25, 25-19.

    The MIT men's volleyball team closed its trip with a pair of non-conference wins this afternoon as the Engineers topped D'Youville College 3-1 by set scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22 before sweeping Rutgers-Newark by set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-20. 
  • MIT Secures UVC Tournament Berth With 3-1 Road Win at Elmira

    The MIT men's volleyball team officially secured a spot in the 2019 United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Tournament with a 3-1 win over Elmira College on Friday evening in New York. At the conclusion of the regular season, MIT will be making its the fourth appearance in the UVC Playoffs and will be seeded fifth or sixth in the bracket come April 12.

    MIT senior setter Yize Dong (Moraga, Calif.) became the third student-athlete in program history to record 3,000 career assists as he guided the Engineers to a United Volleyball Conference (UVC) split in a doubleheader against Nazareth College and St. John Fisher College on Saturday in Cambridge.

    The MIT men's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 non-conference loss to Emmanuel College on Wednesday night. The Engineers fell by set scores of 25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23 in a tightly contested match.

In the first match of the day, the Engineers fell to the host Ducks in four sets in its second United Volleyball Conference (UVC) match of the season and bounced back to defeat Baruch College in straight sets to close their road trip.

This week, junior Thomas Nelson (San Ramon, Calif.) was named as the UVC Athlete of the Week after leading the Engineers to a victory over Rivier University last Wednesday.

    Powered by a match-high and season-high 16 kills from junior Thomas Nelson (San Ramon, Calif.) the MIT men's volleyball team defeated Rivier University in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday night in New Hampshire. The Engineers improved to 5-0 this season as MIT took the match by set scores of 21-25, 25-12, 27-25, 25-16.

(January 29) – MIT men's volleyball first-year Tommy Ogeka (Manorville, N.Y.) has been named as the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Rookie of the Week after leading the Engineers to a 4-0 start to the 2019 campaign. In addition, senior Skyler Kaufman (Needham, Mass.) was one of six student-athletes on the UVC Honor Roll list this week.
  • Ogeka Leads Men's Volleyball Past Baruch, 3-1

    A career-high 17 kills from first-year Tommy Ogeka (Manorville, N.Y.) guided the MIT men's volleyball team to a four-set win over Baruch College on the final day of the 2019 Johnson & Wales Tip-Off Tournament. The Engineers topped the Bearcats, 29-31, 25-17, 25-16, 25-16 to improve to 4-0 on the season.
  • Men's Volleyball Defeats Lasell & Alvernia on Opening Night of JWU Tournament

    The MIT men's volleyball team improved to 3-0 tonight as the Engineers swept Lasell College by set scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 and defeated Alvernia University 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16 on the first day of the 2019 JWU Tip-off Tournament.

    The MIT men's volleyball team hit .475 overall and .588 in the third and final set en route to a 3-0 season opening victory over Regis College by set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-10.
