CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT men's volleyball team wrapped up North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division play with a 30-23, 30-21, 30-22 victory over Johnson & Wales University on Thursday night. With the win, the Engineers improved to 19-10 on the year and 9-2 in conference action while the Wildcats fell to 7-16 overall and 4-5 in the NECVA New England Divison.
Scott Pollom paced MIT with 12 kills as Michael Demyttenaere added 10 of his own. Praveen Pamidimukkala posted nine kills, three blocks and two aces while Garrett Winther contributed seven kills. Kenneth Rosche tallied six kills as Malcolm Bean racked up three blocks and two aces. Ryan Dean registered 37 assists, eight digs, and three blocks while Matthew Ng and Eugene Jang collected 12 and eight digs, respectively.
For Johnson & Wales, Sean Lauro amassed a match-high 17 kills. Albert Trevino dished out 27 assists as Taka Fujishima totaled 12 digs.
Next up for MIT will be a home tri-match on Saturday, March 15 featuring Rivier College and Baruch College. Johnson & Wales will resume action on Tuesday, March 18 when it hosts Rivier as well.
