CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two members of the MIT water polo team were named to the 2014 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Northern Division All-Conference team on Friday afternoon. Junior Ory Tasman (Orlando, Fla.) was tabbed to the second team for third straight season, while classmate Kale Rogers (Newberg, Ore.) was also voted to the second team – his second appearance since his freshman year.
Tasman, who was named offensive player of the week twice this season, currently leads the Cardinal and Gray in goals (93). Earlier this fall, he broke the program record for goals in a career, which was originally held by Craig Cheney '14. Tasman has netted 225 goals in three seasons, and broke the single-season record for goals, which was held by Rogers, who registered 72 goals during the 2012 season.
Rogers, who ranks second on the team in goals, has located the back of the net 63 times this fall. Following their win against Johns Hopkins University in the 2014 Eastern Division III Championship, Rogers was named to the tournament's first team, along with Tasman.
MIT, which is currently competing in the 2014 CWPA Championship this weekend at the United States Naval Academy, will return to the pool tomorrow when they face Northern Division foe Iona College at 12:45 p.m.
