  • Water Polo Sets Program Record With 15 Student-Athletes On ACWPC All-Academic Team

    BRIDGEPORT, Pa. (February 6) – A program record 15 student-athletes from the MIT water polo team have been honored by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) for their academic excellence as they all earned a spot 2016 ACWPC All-Academic Team when the association announced its selections yesterday.

  • Water Polo Gains Three All-Americans in 2016

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (December 15) – MIT water polo seniors Zach Churukian (Menlo Park, Calif.) and Nolan Kruse (Orcutt, Calif.) as well as freshman Clyde Huibregtse (New York, N.Y.) were all named ACWPC All-Americans, when the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) released its Division III selections on Thursday afternoon. For all three student-athletes, it is their first time being named All-Americans and it is the first time since 2010 that that program has earned a trio of selections. Churukian was placed on the Second Team, while Kruse and Huibregtse earned Honorable Mention accolades.

(October 27) – After winning the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Eastern Championship over the weekend, the MIT water polo team swept the weekly Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) weekly awards. Senior Nolan Kruse (Orcutt, Calif.) was named the NWPC Athlete and Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Clyde Huibregtse (New York, N.Y.) earned NWPC Rookie of the Week honors.

The Engineers swept the tournament's major awards as head coach Dave Andriole was named as the Most Outstanding Coach, senior Nolan Kruse (Orcutt, Calif.) was named as the MVP and freshman Clyde Huibregtse (New York, N.Y.) was named as the Rookie of the Tournament.

(October 22) - On the first day of the Collegiate Water Polo Division III Eastern Championship, MIT defeated Penn State Behrend, 14-3, and Monmouth College, 17-10, to advance to tomorrow’s championship match against the winner of second-seeded Connecticut College and fourth-seeded Monmouth at 11:00 a.m. The Engineers, who earned the top-seed in the tournament, was ranked No. 7 in the latest CWPA Division III poll.

Along with Kruse, senior Zach Churukian (Menlo Park, Calif.) was named to the NWPC's Offensive Player of the Week Honor Roll and freshman Ward Weldon (Honolulu, Hawaii)earned a spot on the conference's Rookie of the Week Honor Roll.
