BOSTON, Mass. – Roy Wedge and Stephen Serene led the way for MIT at the All-New England cross country meet over the weekend at Franklin Park. The Engineers, who are ranked No. 17 in Division III, placed 18th overall and fifth among Division III teams.
Wedge was the top performer for the Cardinal and Gray with a time of 25:50, good for 64th place. Serene was four seconds and five places behind Wedge, improving his personal-best time on the eight-kilometer Franklin Park course by 20 seconds. Daniel Harper finished 77th overall breaking the 26-minute barrier by one second. Paul Welle (26:15) was 107th and Gihan Amarasiriwardena (26:26) rounded out the scoring for Tech with a 137th-place showing.
Dartmouth took the team crown and Glarius Rop of American International College was the top individual finisher.
MIT will compete in the Connecticut College Invitational next Saturday, October 16 in the final tune-up before the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on October 30.
