MIT Finishes 11th Overall At Pre-National Meet

WEST CHESTER, Ohio - Sophomore Jake Ruzevick split 26:33 and finished 37th overall in leading MIT men's cross country to an 11th-place finish at Pre-Nationals in Voice of America Park. SUNY-Geneseo closed with 71 points in posting a win at the site of the 2006 NCAA Championships.

The Engineers performed well in the damp and chilly conditions, although the Cardinal and Gray will need to close the gap between its top five as the season progresses. Junior Joseph Roy-Mayhew crossed the line 48th overall to finish second for MIT with a time of 26:52 and sophomore Trevor Rundell completed the 8,000-meter course just six seconds back in 26:58.

Rookie Johannes Schneider finished fourth for the Engineers with a 67th-place effort (27:06), while classmate Jake Bourbonnais closed the scoring for MIT with a time of 27:29.

The Engineers were one of only two teams from the New England region competing in the Pre-National meet. Connecticut College finished 12th overall in the team standings and were paced by senior Keith Drake, who finished fourth with a time of 25:51. Senior Will Leer of Claremont Pomona Pitzer Colleges in California won the individual title in 25:22.
