    A trio of three-pointers late in regulation gave Worcester State University a lead it would not relinquish as it went on to defeat MIT, 62-59, in a non-conference women’s basketball game on Wednesday night. Sophomore Christina Antonakakis (Holmdel, N.J.) paced the Engineers with 15 points.

    Bowdoin College outscored the MIT women’s basketball team, 27-7, during the fourth quarter, helping it pull away for a 66-40 non-conference win on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Paula Pieper (Greenville, S.C.) paced the Engineers with 15 points, four assists, and three steals. The Polar Bears, who are ranked No. 4 in the D3hoops.com Coaches Poll and No. 5 in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Poll, were led by Samantha Roy, who tallied 20 points, six rebounds, and two steals.

    Colby College outscored MIT, 18-6, in the second quarter, helping it pull away for a 68-42 win in non-conference women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Annika Sougstad (Mahtomedi, Minn.) tallied 13 points, five rebounds, three steals, and three blocks for the Engineers.
  • Big Second Quarter Propels Women’s Basketball to 93-51 Win Over Nichols

    The MIT women’s basketball team outscored Nichols College, 28-6, in the second quarter en route to a 93-51 victory on Wednesday night. Six Engineers reached double-digits in scoring, led by sophomore Annika Sougstad’s (Mahtomedi, Minn.) first double-double with a career and game-high 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds, five steals, and three assists.
  • Luizzi Registers Double-Double in 60-55 Women’s Basketball Loss to Roger Williams

    Junior Jocelyn Luizzi (Colchester, Conn.) generated a career-high 25 points and 12 rebounds along with a game-high three blocks, but it would not be enough as Roger Williams University came from behind to defeat the MIT women’s basketball team, 60-55, in the final game of the Tufts University Invitational on Saturday.

    The MIT women’s basketball team fell to SUNY New Paltz, 76-56, in the opening game of the Tufts University Invitational held at UMass Boston on Friday night. Sophomore Paula Pieper (Greenville, S.C.) paced the Engineers with a career-high 13 points.
  • Women’s Basketball Falls to UMass Dartmouth, 87-86, in Overtime

    In its opening game of the 2019-20 season, the MIT women’s basketball team fell to UMass Dartmouth, 87-86, in overtime on Friday night. The Engineers saw four players reach double-digits in scoring, led by sophomore Christina Antonakakis (Holmdel, N.J.), who tied her career-high with 22 points.
