Sharon Wu returns to the MIT lightweight women’s staff in 2018-19 as a second-year volunteer coach.
Wu began rowing in the fall of 2009 for Stanford Rowing Center/Redwood Scullers, a rowing club based out of Redwood City, California. She was recruited to the MIT lightweight women’s team in the fall of 2013 and rowed for the varsity team all four years. In the spring of 2016, Wu was selected to the Pocock Lightweight All-America Team. She was also voted Most Inspirational Oarswoman in 2017 and served as a team captain for the 2016-2017 season.
A 2017 graduate of MIT in computer science and molecular biology, Wu is a member of the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi and the electrical engineering and computer science honor society Eta Kappa Nu. She currently works as a Research Technician at Massachusetts General Hospital and serves as an officer of MIT’s Eta Kappa Nu. In the future, she plans to pursue a PhD in computational biology.
Off the water, Wu enjoys biking, skiing, and baking.
