Women’s Openweight Crew Completes Princeton Chase

PRINCETON, N.J. – After opening the season last week at the Head of the Charles, the MIT women's openweight crew team took part in the Princeton Chase today. The Engineers had a pair of boats entered in the varsity 8 competition.

MIT had its best showing by the "A" boat, which finished the three-mile course in 15:00.900 to place 31st among the 55 entries. The Engineers finished 9.67% behind the top crew of the day, the Virginia A boat that sliced through the course in 13:41.434. MIT was just a little over a second behind the Dartmouth A team and finished within five seconds of crews from Princeton, George Washington and Cornell.

MIT's "B" entry finished the course in 16:05.034 to place 49th. Also competing in a 1x for MIT was senior Jean Sack (Eureka, Cali.) who completed the course in 19:06.905.

MIT will take to the water again next weekend when the Engineers will take part in the Dartmouth Green Monster Invitational on the Connecticut River on November 3.
