  • Record 27 Engineers Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

    CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – A school-record 27 student-athletes from the MIT openweight women’s crew team were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll the conference announced. A total of 202 student-athletes earned the distinction, with MIT’s total placing third among the league schools, trailing only Boston University (43) and Georgetown (34).
  • Meyer Selected to Academic All-America Team

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –Senior Erin Meyer (Austin, Texas) picked up another prestigious post-season honor today when the College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA) announced that she had been selected to the Division I Capital One Academic All-America Women’s At-Large second team. One of 45 student-athletes from around the nation that received recognition on the at-large team, she is the first MIT rower to be chosen for the honor.

    After being selected to the All-Patriot League rowing team earlier this week, senior Erin Meyer (Austin, Texas) was named to another honor by the conference today when it announced her as the 2014 Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year for rowing.

    CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Two members of the MIT women's openweight crew team were selected to the All-Patriot League squad that was announced by the league today. Erin Meyer (Austin, Texas) was named to the first team and senior Betsy Soukup (Austin, Texas) was selected to the second team.
  • Openweight Crew Takes Fourth at Patriot League Championships

    WORCESTER, Mass. – It was a successful close to the 2013-14 regular season for the MIT openweight crew team at the Patriot League Championships toady on Lake Quinsigamond. The Engineers placed all three of their crews into the Grand Finals, with the Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 boats taking third in their races to help MIT to a fourth-place overall finish in the final standings with 38 points.
  • MIT Places Three on Women’s Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seniors Erin Meyer (Austin, Texas), Michelle Teplensky (Somers, N.Y.) and Maddy Wharton (Swarthmore, Pa.) were selected to the Capital One Academic All-District at-large team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday. The trio will represent the Engineers on the national ballot and will be in contention for Academic All-America honors to be revealed in June.
  • MIT Notches Top-10 Finish at EAWRC Sprints

    CHERRY HILL, N.J. – MIT had a solid showing at the 2014 EAWRC Sprints held on the Cooper River this morning. The Engineer’s openweight crew team had three entries in the event, three eights and one four. In the final standings of the Willing Point Trophy MIT totaled 22 points to finish eighth overall, an improvement of three spots from a year ago.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite the chill and rain in the air, the MIT women’s openweight crew team took to the waters of the Charles River for a competition for the final time of the 2013-14 season, taking on crews from Northeastern and Boston College in a battle of local teams.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – Facing off against three teams in two days of racing, the MIT openweight crew squad had a very successful weekend in the nation’s capital, taking second overall in the final Howard W. Wilkins Bowl standings among six teams with 72 points at the George Washington University Invitational. Navy took the team title with 108 points, with Georgetown University third with 63.
  • Openweight Crew Takes a Pair of Wins over Rutgers

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Back on the Charles River for a second straight day of competition, the MIT openweight crew team took on Rutgers University on a bright, sunny morning on the river. In the four events contested the two teams split the races, with the Engineers picking up victories by both the Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 crews.
  • Women’s Openweight Crew Opens Spring Season Against Boston College

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – It was the start of the spring season this morning for the MIT openweight crew team as the Engineers took on the Boston College Eagles on the Charles River. Boston College took all four of the races that were contested, with the closest event coming in the Varsity 8 race.
  • Women’s Openweight Rows in Foot of the Charles

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Closing out the fall season on its home river, the MIT openweight crew team took part in the Foot of the Charles competition today on the Charles River. The Engineers saw their best finish in the Novice 8 event where the A boat finished eighth in a 16-team field.
  • Women’s Openweight Crew Takes On Dartmouth Green Monster

    HANOVER, N.H. – MIT’s women’s openweight crew team sent a pair of entries to compete in the Dartmouth Green Monster on Saturday. An event for novice crews, the Engineers completed the three-mile course on the Connecticut River with the B team posing a finish of 9th.

    PRINCETON, N.J. – In its second outing of the young season, the MIT women’s openweight crew team took to the waters of Lake Carnegie for the Princeton 3-Mile Chase today. The Engineers had both an A and a B crew in the Women’s Varsity 8+ race.
  • Women’s Openweight Crew Opens Season at Head of the Charles

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The annual Head of the Charles regatta officially kicked off the 2013-14 season for the MIT women’s openweight crew team this weekend. The Engineers had a pair of entries in the world famous completion, with a boat in the Club 8 race on Saturday and a Championship 8 entry on Sunday.
  • Metcalf Selected for Inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame Class at Mount Holyoke College

    SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – MIT head women’s openweight crew coach, Holly Metcalf, was honored today when Mount Holyoke College announced that she will be a member of the inaugural induction class into the Mount Holyoke Athletics Hall of Fame. Metcalf will be inducted along with six other individuals and one team in ceremonies scheduled for October 19.
  • Women’s Openweight Crew Announces 2013-14 Freshman Class

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Five freshmen are scheduled to join the ranks of the MIT women’s openweight crew team for the 2013-14 season head coach Holly Metcalf has announced. Four of the five come from the East Coast, with the fifth hailing from California.
  • CRCA Names 12 MIT Rowers Scholar Athletes

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A total of 12 members of the MIT women’s openweight and lightweight rowing teams were honored for their academic success by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) when the organization released its list of Scholar Athletes for 2013. Seven members of the openweight team made the list and were joined by five rowers from the lightweight team.
